The Center provides the public with a place to explore architecture, urban planning, and design, allowing them to understand how these disciplines affect us all in our daily lives. Using Philadelphia's distinctive breadth of architecture, pioneering urban design, and manufacturing heritage as the foundation for conversation, we educate the public through walking tours, guest speakers, exhibitions, hands-on workshops, design competitions, festivals, and children’s programming.

The Center brings together architects, designers, developers, thought leaders, and the public under one roof and also provides office space for AIA Philadelphia, the Community Design Collaborative, and the AIA Bookstore. The Center is open to the public seven days a week.

Our guide, Dan, was passionate about architecture and informative. My favorite parts of the tour were when Dan showed how architecture echoed history. For example, in the PA Academy of the Arts,... This was a good intro to the development of the modern city touching on the change from masonry to skyscrapers. 2 hours in length and very informative.

Thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour, Emergence of a Modern Metropolis from the Philadelphia Center for Architecture, across the street from the Convention Center. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and informative.. obvious that he loved what he was doing. We learned about Philadelphia's architecture, not revolutionary history, so it's quite a nice compliment to the historic part of the city. I... More

I attended a wedding at the COA on Valentine's day which is the perspective that my review is based. The facility contact that I worked with was a gentleman named David. He couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful throughout the set up process. The venue is a very modern open space that is suitable for smaller more intimate events,... More

We loved the shop and the staff at the shop. The products are interesting and fun. We arranged for an architectural tour, which mean coming back to Center City Philadelphia 2 days from the first day we showed up. The tour guide had not showed up after 20 minutes. While they kindly gave our money back, they did not pay... More

I took the architectural walking tour of Philadelphia with a couple of friends today and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our guide, Ty, did a wonderful job of explaining the history and architecture of Philadelphia as we visited several buildings surrounding city hall. I would recommend this for any adults interested in something a little different and very well priced.

i was looking for a non "colonial history tour" and had a narrow window of opportunity, and decided to take this tour even though i am not an architectural person. quite interesting and our tour guide knew of several interesting locations to get faulous bird's eye views of the city center.
