Amazing market and food hall
Oct 2021
I had never heard of this Market before stumbling upon it just a few blocks from my hotel on a recent trip to Philadelphia. The Market takes up an entire city block. It is a labyrinthine sensory feast, with vendors selling fresh meat, fish, produce and baked goods and a food hall with dozens of full-service and carry-out restaurants. There's so much great food here that it was hard to decide what places to try.

So Awesome!

A must go! So many different restaurants, bakeries and sweets, you'll have a hard time deciding what you want! We probably went around the whole thing twice before deciding on what to have!

Loved getting food here as it was only a five minute walk from our hotel. You can get just about anything you want to eat and I would recommend going online first and finding some places that interest you. Then, download the map to see where that place is because this market is huge. There are almost 100 vendors and most of the vendors cook food to order.

A few of the places have a sit down counter but many of the vendors are to go only. Look for the sign or the tiles on the floor for where to line up. Biggest problem is lack of seating. This place is simply too popular to accommodate the crowds. We were fortunate enough to take our food back to a close by hotel room but they really need to add an area with additional seating.

Market is open 8 to 6 daily but many of the vendors are closed on Sunday, so go on a different day if possible. Because about 30 to 40% of the vendors are closed on Sunday, this causes long lines for the remaining open vendors.

An Experience!
Oct 2021
Incredible market experience! Conveniently located in central downtown Philadelphia, it is also easily reached by public transportation.

This is the largest market I've seen in the U.S. It seems to have a bit of everything, from vegetable and fruit sellers, to meat and fish, beverages (including alcohol), bakeries, candy and chocolatiers, ethnic food takeout and restaurants.

If you're looking for a low cost meal, breakfast, lunch and an early dinner are all possible from a variety of places. Don't like the lack of variety or prices at your hotel? Stop in at the market! It's open from 8 am to 6 pm -- check the website for holiday hours.

A very neat stop, you could spend hours just wondering around.

This was recommended to us by an employee at the liberty bell. It was about a 15 minute walk, and worth every step. Anything you could dream of is available to eat. It doesn’t cost anything to get in, and it’s a lovely, bustling market. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is we couldn’t find a place to sit to eat our lunch right away, after about 10 minutes of waiting we secured a table.

Soooo crowded
Sep 2021 • Friends
My mom and I came here on a Saturday afternoon during our Philly trip, and that was bad timing! The market was jam packed with people to the point that it was hard to get around. It would have been bad even prior to the pandemic but covid just made the crowds that much more nerve wracking, though everyone was wearing a mask. I actually thought I might have a panic attack. Nearly everything had a line and there was no place to sit. The market is nearly entirely food though we had expected a little more shopping. The food we got, from two restaurants, was decent. I would maybe return, but I’d try a week day.

My Favorite Place in Philly!
Sep 2021 • Solo
When I lived here in the ‘90s this was my favorite place to be, and it remains so as a visitor. I have never had a bad meal here and there is so much to choose from! Several ethnic choices along with typical “Philly” fare. The bakeries are the BEST you’ll find and the various markets cucan stock your kitchen! The only down side is seating is very limited, but people are good about getting up from their table once they’re finished. A few eateries have bar stools at a bar to eat.

Lots of options for breakfast, lunch and early dining

We went for breakfast, operating hours at this moment are from 8 am to 6 pm. Liked the atmosphere of the place and very cordial friendly service. If you are a local its a very nice and clean place to obtain fresh market products. If you are visiting as a tourist, it a great place to taste different options of ethnic and Pennsylvanian food. Liked it, recomended.

A little bit of everything and lots of places for a cheesesteak!
Sep 2021 • Solo
Cool place to visit when you’re in Philadelphia. This historic market has a little bit of everything - counter service delis and restaurants, bakeries, produce stands, seafood and meat markets, and a lot more. Ordered a classic Philly cheesesteak at Carmen’s and it was fantastic.
