There used to be several block houses built on Whidbey Island to protect early settlers from less friendly Indian raiding parties. The one in Coupeville has been restored and also has some restored long Indian canoes. This is a good history stop while traveling the island.

Very good repository of historical facts and actual items used in the early days of the area. Makes you appreciate how well we have it today. Very knowledgable staff to answer questions.

It is always interesting to see what life was like in the past. It makes one ponder if you would survive. The exhibits here give great incite into past times. Great place for family visit. It is just the right size for absorbing information.

.The Island County Historical Museum is located in Coupeville,WA. It is well organized and very interesting. There is a 30 minute film that is well worth watching that tells the history of the island's first settlers. The museum is a great starting point for a tour of the area. There is a historic block house in the yard of the... More

We spoke to a very nice and knowledgeable woman. She was friendly and full of information. They had lots of flyers for local points of interest.

If you want to learn about Whidbey Island, this is THE place to go! The displays change periodically and cover a wide range of knowledge. It's only $3 admission (a good price, especially for keeping it open to the public.

This little museum is a gem. It is rare that a museum provides such a breadth of information concerning a community. We were especially pleased with the Native American exhibit. The museum is well worth a visit.

My family and I enjoyed the tour through the museum. It was fun to see the history of the area and I enjoyed the short film talking about some of the long time families of the area. Especially the part about the lady who made the men build a walkway to the church so she didn't have to muddy her... More
