Parking at Lake George, the first part is a little steep, but the views are well worth it with a number of different looks at the Lakes Basin and you ascend and descend. Crystal Crag is hovering . over the lake.

I'm mixed on this hike because Crystal Lake was beautiful. The trouble is the trail getting there. The trail is dusty and consists of many moderate switchbacks. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the top of the trail. The elevation is high so we stopped a few times to catch our breaths. After you get to the... More

There is truly nothing better than breathing fresh Mountain Air and veiwing beautiful landscapes. While there were quite a few people out and about fishing and walking around it wasn't too crowded and once we ventured off along one of the trails away from the main Lake far enough there weren't as many people and it was so delightful to... Not too strenuous hike with beautiful payoff! Great fishing along the way! We stopped at Barrett and Lake TJ. All good fun!

We made the hike on a weekday and the parking lot was very full. We were lucky to find a spot at the trailhead. This is a challenging hike if your not in the best shape but there are plenty of places to stop along the way. Bring something to drink as you will need it. Also a pair of... More

Our first little walk after driving through Death Valley from Vegas the day before. Perfect for something nice and not too long. If you're reasonably fit you can get to the lake in an hour, spend as much time as you want hiking further and then head back down. We spent a very pleasant three hours after setting off around... During peak times the parking lot fills up quickly, so get there early. Well worth the climb. On the way up, you can see the lakes below, and once you reach the top, you have another beautiful, crystal-clear like to hike around.

Lots of folks heading to Crystal Lake, so be prepared. Once at the lake you can find a private spot to enjoy.

Crystal Lake nestled under Crystal Crag is a lovely small lake in a serene valley over 9500 feet. It is great for a half day adventure and certainly worth the effort if you are prepared. Great photos once you are there! However, poor signage, the steep switchbacks, a big elevation change, and little warning of what's ahead make it a... More

Passes fairly steeply through woods with gorgeous views of Lake Mary and waterfalls. The lake is a typically clear alpine lake with many nice spots for lunch or just to enjoy the surroundings. The view there is dominated by Crystal Crag which is a stunning feature. Go on to Mammoth Crest if you have the energy for panoramic views of... More
