We pulled around Garnet after hiking up from Glady's lake. It was hailing with heavy thunder and lightning. We tried to grab whatever sites could facilitate our group and got set up quickly. Once the weathered cleared we were taken back by the beauty. The morning brought an even more breathtaking scene.

Took this lake in as part of a 8 day loop hike in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. A beautiful spot, that was relatively uncrowded for late August.

I love to hike and have been to many state and national parks. The views along the JM trail are some of the best there are. It helped we had perfect weather and the trail was not crowded. This is a must-do hike if you can do it. Highly recommend.

This was one of the prettiest (of several pretty) mountain lakes we hiked past and spent some time at when we hiked the first 60 miles of the JMT. There are some backpacking campsites around the lake, but we needed to go further that day. This lake is in the Inyo National Forest. It has a few small islands within... More

this hike has alot of different terrain from meadows, to sun exposed climbs and descents, to shaded forests, creek and river crossings, the lake itself is one of the gems of the high alpine. make sure you are in shape and elevation acclimated if you are making this a day hike. otherwise make it an overnighter.

The lake is very picturesque located in a cirque. .Pack picnic, lots of water, sunscreen, and fishing pole. Very peaceful lake with light traffic.

Garnet Lake is located in the Ansel Adams Wilderness at around 10.000 feet. There are several hiking trails to the lake. It can be reached by a long day hike but better as an overnight destination. The access to the trails is regulated by a permit system, so best is to visit the Mammoth Visitor center.

This is an absolutely beautiful lake and is well worth the hike getting there!! It's breathtaking! It has extra meaning for me as I did my graduate studies on water surface measurements of Garnet Lake and Thousand Island Lake.

I have been trekking for more than 2 decades. This is the most beautiful trek ever. The route we took was from Agnew Meadows then up the Shadow Creek trail to Shadow Lake. From there we went to beautiful Garnet Lake. The trail to Garnet Lake was the hardest because of the elevation gain and a 9 mile total. For... More
