A worthwhile stop for area info, maps, shuttle and Yosemite info and suggestions. Easy parking on the way into town and a friendly, helpful staff.

This is one of the best California Welcome Centers in the state, and I've been to just about all of them. A USFS wilderness permit desk and information desk, both staffed with local experts, are on hand and one of the best stocked book stores and Sierra gift stores anywhere in the Sierra. I bought a book on Sierra tree... More

The staff is friendly and helpful. We always stop in for our Visitors Pass for National Parks. It is combined with USFS. Our younger son always has a lot of questions to be answered by the friendly rangers.

The ranger station used to be an interesting, informative and enjoyable place to visit. Unfortunately it has now been replaced by this establishment, which clearly is more interested in separating the visitors from their money. The seismograph, which used to be displayed proudly in the ranger station, is now broken and stuffed behind some shelves. The old relief map of... More

first time in Mammoth, and hubby had to work in the hotel room. I took off on my own and this was my first stop. So glad it was because I was very confused about where to go and what to see in 3 hour increments. Nice suggestions, explanations, handouts, great help. Got me on my way for hours and... More

I've never seen so many maps and hiking books! Souvenirs, poop shovels, and books! What more could one heading off for adventures need?

The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center is the only place to go for information about anything regarding the local area. I live in town but frequently stop by with my young son to check out the merchandise or talk to the staff. It is an official California Welcome Center and I enjoy seeing all the tourists from near and far. They... More
