Visited the racetrack in November 2016, and our park map showed 4x4 trail from teapot junction. We drove without any concerns, and decided to leave by going south, and save a hundred miles. Saw the sign warning of "high clearance 4x4 vehicles only" but my...More

The road starts after the Racetrack (where you can find the moving rocks) and is well indicated. The first part is easy, if you drive a Wrangler. Unfortunately, I was driving a Pathfinder and I had some problems in passing a couple of difficult points....More

This road is very hard to negotiate except by 4 x 4. Bring pick axe, shovel, some boards for ramps, lots of water, spare tires, and survival gear. This road leads from Race Track Playa to the other side of Death Valley near 395. A...More

To call this a "road" is, well, far wide of the mark! You have to haves 4*4 to make this one. You will not make it in a car, I tried! Even a rent won't make it!

I just drove Lipp down from racetrack in a stock Rubicon on 4/26/15. I've driven many back country Death Valley Roads. This road is one or two storms from complete closure. I knew it was hairy and we did get down safely, obviously, but there...More

This seems to be a nice easy 4WD road but if you continue up the mountain over to the racetrack and into DV...it gets really technical. The road is also washed out in areas where you need to hug the mountain...so wide vehicles would not...More
