Unusual desert area where rocks move from place to place, but the actual movements have never been observed by humans.

The Racetrack is a great experience and one certainly worth the 28 mile drive from Ubehebe Crater. However, let's discuss how to get there safely. There are signs present at the start of the road advising you that high clearance 4x4 is recommended as well...More

行って良かった。 Las Vegasから車で6時間かかりました。 うちダートは3時間で4WD以外は走行禁止です。 動くRockなんともミステリーな自然現象です。 I was enjoyed that. It took about 6 hours from Las Vegas. In that I took for about 3 hours on the rugged road. They accept to drive only SUV on trace rock valley Rd. How mysterious moving rocks are!

To reach racetrack we rented Jeep in Farabee Jeep rental. It is a little bit pricey but I don't recommend to save on safety in Death valley. Farabee gives you one page description how to drive to racetrack. Read it! - It is very accurate...More

This place is unbelievable and out of this world!!! So vast, so flat, so uninhibited and uninhabited! I've seen many nature places from the popular spots during my leisure travels to the lesser known spots during my geology field trips, and the racetrack playa definitely...More

Racetrack Playa is majestic. Words cannot do justice to the desolate beauty of the place. The road going to the Playa is very rough. It is about 25 miles from Uhebehe Crater, all of which are on a rough dirt road. A high-clearance vehicle is...More

I had long wanted to go to the Racetrack, time to make it happen. Lots of homework, getting there, best road, where to stay, who was taking us out there. It doesn't matter which road you take, they're all high 4 X 4 (with 2...More

My husband and I rented a Farabee Jeep in April to make the trek out to Racetrack Playa, and we are so glad we did. It was a surreal experience and one that I will never forget. We left Furnace Creek at around 8:30am in...More

About 26 miles off road, it's tough to reach this location. Even if you have your own 4x4 you will want to take it easy on the (very) rough graded road from Ubehebe Crater, but it's well worth the effort. The moving rocks are located...More

The Racetrack is reminiscent of The Big Lebowski. Jarring at first, it's surreal and oddly fascinating. Those who love it can't explain why and those who don't have no interest in hearing an explanation. If you fall into the former category, you'll no doubt enjoy...More

Traveled 2 hours from Las Vegas to get to DV and then another 2 hours on the bumpiest rocky road non ice cream I've ever been on. On the way is a volcano crater and some teakettles... but the end goal is to see those...More

The dried lake bed is quite big. If you are willing to walk a bit, you will for sure see trails left by moving rocks. We were happy with the amount of rocks we saw. Took some pretty cool pictures. It was quite windy when we... More

The hardest part of the Racetrack was the drive. (The second hardest part of Racetrack was the heat.) The drive was challenging. We rented a ford Explorer in Vegas and purchased food/snacks and water outside of Death Valley... More

The road up from Saline Valley is probably the worst road in DVNP, which is saying a lot, because it has been closed from "major" landslides, and is plagued with these over many years off and on. The Switchbacks are epic in... More
