Nice little area of a few blocks downtown between 9th and 14th Street West. Very unique and charming artsy houses. Very colorful. There are a few very nice restaurants in the area. Some are even decorated like other houses of the art village. So you can plan you visit around your dinner or lunch as it does not take long... More

Village of the Arts is a mix of professional and amateur art galleries and gift shops. There is something for everyone, though the prices range from moderate to very expensive. Fun to see the variety of offerings. The galleries are mostly very old (early 1900s) houses converted to live/work spaces. The owners are super friendly and willing to talk about... More

I chose to visit after reading reviews online. The buildings are dilapidated and not welcoming. We did not stay long, and instead ventured out to the beach towns to walk around.

Went on Friday night walk on July 1st. More than half of the shops were closed. If you are into different art it is OK. About half of the homes I went into were not air conditioned. On a hot July night it was definitely uncomfortable. Cats all over the place just roaming around.

I was a little disappointed at my first visit to the Village of the Arts, but it was in the off season. Most shops and galleries were closed, but the many of the yards were interesting with sculptures and unusual flowers. I will try this again in the fall when I believe more shops and galleries will be open. Because... More
