I took my family out for a half day in shore trip with Captain Kris. It was my wife and daughter's first charter fishing experience. After netting a bunch bait fish first thing in the morning, he put us right on some fish where my wife and daughter were able to get the hang of things. Captain Kris was great about showing the them tips & tricks to casting and keeping their lines taught. After we caught a couple dozen fish; jacks, lady fish, shark, Spanish Mackerel, we made the trip over to Egmont National park. Kris shared some of the history of the sunken fort installations in the area before giving us time to walk the island and explore. After leaving Egmont we headed to the mangroves at Rattlesnake Key to fish for snook. Captain Kris put my wife and daughter on a couple nice snook right away. It was a great day on the water. Thanks Captain Kris! We'll give you a call next time we're back in Bradenton!

OMG! The best time ever! We never stopped catching. As soon as the anchor was set and the lines baited we started catching and we never stopped until it was time to return home. Capt. Chris knows exactly where to put you on the fish. Thank you so much. Great memories were made. We will be back. Theresa, Anna-Grace and Adam

We have been fishing with Captain Kris from Tailing Tails for going on 10 years. No one works harder or makes you feel more at home regardless of your skill level. No joke we put over 30 Snook in the boat, then went to find some redfish, 20+ reds later, over slot reds, our arms were killing us. Check out the smile on my son’s face!

I have chartered with saltwater and freshwater captains from the east coast to the west coast and once overseas and I have consistently had the best bite, and the best experience with TailingTales. Captain Kris knows his stuff. He works hard to put you on the fish, and I learn something from him every time we go out. Last week we caught Grouper, Snook, Redfish - the redfish bite was insane. We were tripled up at times. Do you self a favor and give Captain Kris a call. You won't regret it.

Went out with Capt Kris today! Very professional, talked to us what we would be doing on the trip. Traveled about a half hour off of Bradenton beach. He had local knowledge of an offshore reef that had the bite on lately. We immediately hooked on fish after the 1st or 2nd cast and hit a variety of fish! In fact as we reeled in our catches, bull sharks were hitting on our catches. So freakin awesome, especially on light tackle! After a few hours we switched it up and headed to the bush, shallow water casting and hit snook left and right! Great time with my buddy and Captain Kris is the real deal. A true professional guide with many years of local knowledge! Highly recommended as far as I’m concerned, check him out if you want to learn local waters and hit fish!!

Had such a great experience with Capt. Kris the first time we booked again later in the week! Had two incredible days on the water! Capt. Kris is very knowledgeable, friendly and really worked hard to get my kiddos on some fish! And wow did we catch fish! Incredible experience and look forward to next years family vacation in Florida. We'll be fishing with Capt. Kris hopefully every year! Thank you again Capt. Kris for a great experience and for working hard for my kiddos and making their fishing experience unforgettable on the water! Tight lines!!!

I am a repeat customer of Captain Kris Winkel. It is easy to book a charter, he is always on time for leaving the dock, and he has an extensive knowledge of the fish and waters around Sarasota, Bradenton and Tampa Bay. On our last trip we caught shark, Bonita, Cobia, Snapper, Snook, and Grouper. We have taken many friends and they all have had amazing fishing experiences. I highly recommend Capt Kris Winkel for your next fishing trip.

Wow what I day to remember forever with son and Kris. To catch 75+ fish in 4 hours my son was worn out. Every time we stopped Captain Kris put us on fish and my son got a grand slam in first 15 minutes.

We went out with Captain Kris for 2 days. The first day was a fishing day. We had an awesome time. We caught a good amount of fish and he kept our lines in the water. We had some great keepers that we can take home and put in the freezer. We saw some dolphins and just enjoyed a perfect day on the water with a great host.
Day two was a sight seeing tour. We saw the mangroves and lots of wildlife at Egmont National park. We went out to a sandbar and walked around the clear blue water. We found some great sea shells. It was the perfect day on the water. We were very relaxed and Captain Kris did a great job customizing the trip for us. We hope to come back in the fall and go again!

we employed Kris on several occasions over the years and the most important (to us) aspect of our experience was that Kris is honest and he never stops trying to put us on fish. I have had experiences (in Myrtle Beach with a different guide) where they explained (after they had our money) that the fish hadn't been biting for 3 months so the captain didn't want to waste live bait........
Several times I have called Kris to employ his services and he has honestly explained to me why we should try a different time for unknown reasons (sometimes known reasons) the fish just weren't biting. Although I was disappointed, I always appreciated his candor and his integrity!

how far out do you go off shore? Also it by the hour or day?

We booked our trip for fishing and a short eco-tour, but we saw a few dolphin while fishing near shore including one that got within 10-15 ft of the boat. It was swimming on its side through the all the fish we were hoping to catch! We had a great view of it!!
Captain Kris will tailor the trip to you, but I believe he primarily charters fishing tours. He doesn’t advertise dolphin tours, although he tried to get a couple to chase us. 😁
