My family of four went to Mixons recently. We had been there once before and on our latest trip to FL, it was high priority. Mixons is a true FL experience. We took the tram tour this time and learned about the history of family and business, as well as a wildlife rehab center that they have on their grounds. Very well done, our kids really enjoyed it. Inside, we sampled OJ, had orange swirl ice cream (a real treat), picked up some citrus, and even had a bite at their cafe. All of the employees treat you like family. Plan on spending some time here...and plan on a return trip too!

Mixon fruit farms is a small gem! Lots of fun for kids and adults alike. The ice cream, sandwiches, and hamburgers are delicious. Even the orange ice cream chapstick is awesome!!!

The production of the factory was explained thru pictures and video as they are not in season now- but walking in the factory was neat.

The wildlife tour is really cool and Damien is an awesome host.

Kids can feed the koi and play in the play space, that has a water inflatable for an additional cost, but it’s very reasonable and beats the heat!

We’ll be back w other family members!

My four adult children all grew up in Florida and they KNOW good Citrus when they eat it. All four called after receiving their annual fruit gift, to tell me these were the best oranges ever. Now we happily get to hand down all this wisdom to 8 grandchildren. Big thank you Mixon’s.

Turns out our houseguest doesn't care to hold an alligator but i was THRILLED to be able to hold the baby python this, our fourth visit. It's a 'feel good' day trip, having the well done wildlife resuscitation associated with the tour (would NOT visit JUST for the fruit farm itself) . Gift shop, while overpriced is old-time hoak-y and (free) samples are lovely fun. GO!!! You'll find it trite or you'll find it fun (we're still in the latter group)😁. P.S. Groupon is well handled here; thanks! It's how we first 'discovered' you.

The place has definitely changed since we visited 15 years ago. Orange fields have been mostly sold for new home development. The tram tour just goes literally around the back of the building. The tram speakers don’t work and the tram stalls. The highlight of the trip is a wildlife specialist they have on site that talks about his work and has some animals to show. The shop has mostly knick-knacks that are not specific to the store but junk like other tourist shops. I’m not sure if anything they sell is theirs besides the fruit and juice. This used to be a place we would revisit. Never again. Sadly I don’t see this place being around in 10 years.

Thanks for stopping in. We had some trouble with the tram audio and maintenance. Both have been corrected.

Be awhile since I was here to get fresh squeezed OJ. Was initially happy to see them open but it was a big mistake. Drive 50 miles for OJ. Came home to find these bait and switch monsters sold pasteurized orange juice. Crap tastes like Tropicana at twice the price.

Should of known from the shopping experience. No one selling candy, no one selling ice cream. No one selling fruit delivery, and their citrus onsite was poor and mostly not local. At least I know this was my last trip here. To bad I can’t say what I really think.

We have always been big fans of Mixon's and head there two or three times a winter. We were there today, and it will be the last time this year. The store was FULL of maskless people including the cashier at the only register open at the time. Yes, you can say, "Well, stay home!" We will! Very disappointed to see so many people walking around with no masks. We got what we came for and left quickly.

We’ve visited the shop several times to buy fresh juice, fruit and boxes of the fruit slices to bring home to family (they are often requested). This time we also took the tour.

Runs on a tram and takes about an hour. The guide was well informed and it was interesting to see the fruit trees and to understand that some of the less healthy looking bushes were actually perfectly fine and productive.

The rescued wildlife section was also good. Narrated by a guide (sorry, can’t remember his name) who is clearly devoted to the animals and cares deeply about their protection and survival. Fascinating to meet the tortoises, birds and the blonde raccoon ( looks very different without the bandit eyes).

Would suggest the tour if you are visiting nearby.

This afternoon we made a reservation for a tram tour at Mixon Fruit Farm. The tour was informative. A three car tram took us and one other couple around a small portion of the farm. The driver made many short stops along the route pointing out things dealing with the farming and processing of the fruit.

Wildlife Rescue has a small area within the farm, where they display and talk about some of their rescues. We saw a Crocodile, an Emu, a light tan Possum, several birds and an Alligator. The alligator was small and I was able to hold it. Very exciting memory!

When we reserved the tour, we also purchased 2 of their special ice cream cones or cups. We enjoyed them after the tram tour. We also enjoyed exploring the gift shop and store.

We've driven past this spot many times and finally stopped. We had heard all about the orange ice cream and were not disappointed! The shop is fun to look around in, and there is a cafe with lots of sandwich and salad options. We were walking in as the tour was pulling away, so we didn't get to experience that this time. The orange swirl ice cream is a must have, and we are already looking forward to our next visit!
