About
This is one of the few place in Florida where you can ride your horse on a beach and in the water. The calm waters and flat sandy bottom of Palma Sola Bay make it possible to ride on a horse that is swimming. This is the birthplace of Horse Surfing! Horseback riding on the beach, swimming with horses, and Horse Skiing. Reservations required.

It was a birthday present from my husband. The original day that we booked was for March 8th but due to the cold weather on that day, we received a courtesy call advising us our ride might be a better experience if we booked it at the different date/ warmer day. They immediately gave us a gift card we could use any time we wanted. Thank you for that. So yesterday June 2nd 2020, we finally used our gift card. It was an amazing experience. Just to be riding on such beautiful animals was all worth the price. For my husband it was his very first time riding a horse. For me it was not my first rodeo but my very first time swimming and galloping in the water on a horse. Our guide was very informative and very pleasant. She took pictures of us while riding horses. Yes you might walk/ride your horse through poop at times if you follow another one but that is NOT a reason to gave it a bad rating. Overall it was an absolutely incredible experience. We are already planning on coming back....maybe next time for the " Trail Ride"

My granddaughter and I participated in the Thrill Ride. My granddaughter has been showing horses for 7 years and has her own horse at home so I was hoping this would be exciting for her. It was better than expected. The horses are obviously well taken care of. Every thing we did, a walk on the beach, surfing, skiing, swimming, was great fun. The guides were super helpful and friendly. I’d highly recommend this for either an experienced rider or a novice

Ok...It may seem expensive, but they have to trailer the horses 40 minutes each way, plus they provide a staff member for each rider!
They do a great job tailoring the ride to every experience level, which can be tough when the rider is experienced, and wants fun and freedom. You do get a couple of nice, independent canters down the beach a big deal considering the crushing regulations the organizers have to deal with.
The water part is amazing for everyone, no matter what their experience level. You get to stand up on the horse’s wet back, get pulled while hanging on to it’s tail, and feel the horse’s muscular power as you ride bareback through the surf. A true “life” experience!
My guide, Audrey, was a sweetie...not one of those know-it-all horsie snobs that we all like to avoid! In fact, everyone was genuine, kind and respectful. Loved my wonderful, eager horse “Alibi”, but, regrettably, they wouldn’t let me take him home with me...

My sister and I had a great time riding on our vacation. The price was a little high in my opinion but I do understand that it takes a lot to get the horses to and from. Chrissy was such a great guide. She was super friendly and helpful. My horse did great and he was very easy to maneuver. I truly enjoyed our experience! I hope this remains a thing - even with people saying it needs to stop. Tim keeps up with the waste floating to shore. The horses are well loved! I don’t understand why anyone would want to take this fun experience away! Thanks for a good time!

I'm not much of a horse person, but wanted to try riding in the water and having the experience of being on a horse as it swims in the water. It was a really fun! I do want to mention that there is another company that does this just west of where Real Beach Horses are located. I walked up there first, and the first employee basically ignored me. I had to actually walk over to where they were setting riders up to find out that I was in the wrong place. Make sure you stop at the very first horse trailer you see as you enter the causeway on Manatee Ave...that's where the Original Real Beach Horses are! Just a note on what to wear...I wore a water friendly top and skort with slip on shoes (that could get wet) and socks. I was glad I did because you go up to about your hips when the horse is swimming and my friend said she didn't have much comfort having bare feet in the stirrups.

I read about this experience and was super excited. I booked it right away. The second half of the ride, when you are actually in the water was so unbelievable! You body surf behind the horse by holding onto the horse’s tail! They go fast. Wear a swim suit. When you ride the horse back to shore bare back, hold on tight! Can ask guides to customize ride to your level. A bucket list activity!

We did the beach sunrise horseback water ride and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Ever horse completely had their own personality and it was super fun to see that. All the guides were also amazing. I had Hana and she was incredibly kind, funny, and encouraging if anyone was timid to try one of the activities. In our 16 years visiting Anna Maria we have never done this, but we will definitely do it again on our next visit.

Riding a horse on the beach has been on my bucket list for a long time. The Real BeachHorses made it a dream come true! We rode on the beach, swam on horseback and “horse surfed”. The entire experience was beyond my expectations. The handlers obviously care about the animals and treat them like their own children. Safety was never a concern, as each rider gets their own guide. If you are looking to experience something different than your average trail ride-this is for you!

Awesome experience. Lead by an incredible and knowledgeable staff. Felt safe and confident on my thrill ride. Who thought this 53 year old lady could stand on the back of a horse? I did!

Do all of the packages include swimming? We love the idea of the beach but have a few hesitant of swimming with any other wildlife LOL

Can you bring your own horse to this beach to ride?
Written August 23, 2019
Yes, you can. Just please be respectful and clean up after your horses. That means any horse poop, anywhere needs to be collected, transported to your horse trailer, and taken away. Or you can just ride with us!
Written October 30, 2019
They offer two different types of rides. The prices range from $100.00 to $140.00 per rider and its well worth the adventure.

Hello! Looking to book for my team, around 10 people, what’s your max # of riders together?
Written June 14, 2019
Can book up to 8 riders. We have had people split their group since we do multiple rides per day typically

Do you get to run the horses on the beach along with getting to swim with them? Has always been a dream of mine to run a horse on the beach.
Written May 15, 2019
yes! you spend 30 minutes of you riding on the shore. If you have enough experience you are able to canter your horse down then beach. We rode done the beach with a guide on foot. We weren’t lead. Next was the best part we headed out to the water where we got to experience horse skiing and surfing! what a blast! Then on to swimming with the horses and feeling their power beneath you. Then a little rest and end it with a race to shore! We will definitely be doing this again!

Are you taking the horses out in all of this Red Tide?
Written September 21, 2018
Yes! Red Tide has caused us to rebook some of our customers to our other location WaterHorses in St Pete. So far, RT hasn't been a problem there.

BeachHorses hours vary from day-to-day. Rides are scheduled according to tide charts to coincide with low tide. This is to provide our customers with a beach. At any other time, this beach is under water. Rides can start as early as sunrise and end no later than sunset (by law). Our schedule for the remainder of 2018 is available on our website and tickets can be purchased online up to 13 hours in advance.

I have been trying to get in contact with the company for a little over a week now. I have called them and emailed them on several occasions and I haven't gotten any response yet. Is this company legit? We have a large family, so is it worth the price? Is any time better than another to go?
Written April 4, 2018
Yes we are legit! Sorry about the diff icon getting through. We have been very busy. Please keep trying!
