Amazing cemetery with historical figures.

I had to stop at this cemetery and Check out the graves of The Wright Brothers, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Charles Kettering, The Patterson's, The Ritty's the boy and the dog, and other important historical figures. The grounds were well kept and from the overlook you get beautiful views. Was well worth the visit.

Well worth a visit if you like history.

When visiting a new city I always like to drive through the local cemetery. This place was like a museum in it’s self. You could tell there used to me money in Dayton just by driving through this place (Dayton it’s self was a bit of a rust belt disappointment).

Starting on a huge hill and cascading down the place was something to see.

After visiting some of Dayton's historical sites, it's a nice stop to see the final resting places of those individuals. It is well maintained and worth the stop.

A Walk Through the History of Dayton
May 2020 • Family
A great place to spend a weekend afternoon taking in the amazing people who once lived and thrived in Dayton making Dayton one of the most innovative cities in the early 20th century. Paul Lawrence Dunbar, the Wright Brothers and many more historically significant people are laid to rest at Woodland.

As a bonus, there is an amazing view of the city of Dayton!!!

Enjoy!

Great Cemetery with long history
Jul 2020 • Family
We truly enjoyed driving through the Woodland Cemetery. Walk or drive, there are a lot of old, unique grave stones and monuments to see and lots of old trees providing plenty of shade. While we were there we had and extra treat when we saw two coyotes walking around. They were amazing and we were able to follow them in the car slowly for some time. It was a real treat. Also, this must be one of the largest hills in Ohio!

This site is full of a lot of my family members. All of the stones contain a lot of family history. The on-line cemetery listing is very helpful for the genealogy buffs.

Full of history

Full of history. Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum is the final resting place of the Wright Brothers, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and Erma Bombeck, as well as Medal of Honor recipients, the Gypsy Queen, and most important to me, my uncle. It is a beautiful place to visit.

Gorgeous cemetery
Dec 2019 • Family
I was visiting Dayton, OH and decided to take a walk through the local cemetery which turned into a super interesting walk through history. There are many notable burials here which include The Wright Brothers, Erma Bombeck and Paul Laurence Dunbar, poet. This is a massive cemetery with many unique and beautiful headstones, markers and mausoleums. The paths, trees, outbuildings and plants all make for a lovely place to walk.
