This trail is not really a loop - it is a trail that intersects several other trails (Horse Thief, Wrangles, Steve's and Mary's Cutoff) and ends at a jeep road - which will bring you back to the parking area.

I am writing this from a hiking, not biking standpoint.

The beginning is very steep and rocky, but don't let that discourage you. Eventually you get to a more gradual slope (about where Wrangler's meets Mary's at the lower level - Wranglers also meets Marys at the rim top area). Once you get to the top - where Horsethief takes off, you have a long flat walk.

I found the signage good - got me where I wanted to go. Maybe it is different feeling to a biker. But, for me, getting to the top of Mary's, where you can see the river is a nice, short hike and well worth it to see the views. I love going down on Horsethief (the entry is also very steep - but after that, it is a nice ramble that brings you closer to the river views). I also like turning off on Wranglers. No river views there, but it makes a very nice hike.

I love coming to this area. You can take a nice hike in a couple of hours. The bikers and hikers generally co-exist nicely. I always give right of way to the bikers - simply because they are either really working to get up the steep slopes - or enjoying a great downhill ride.

I went to Fruita in February, and the riding was great. Mary's loop has
plenty
of nice singletrack, but don't miss out on the Horsethief Bench or Steve's
Loop
-- both are located right off Mary's Loop.

There are spots where the singletrack leads only feet away from precipices
overlooking the mighty Colorado river. The views are incredible. Not the
best trail
for beginners, but I think that everyone will find something to enjoy
here.

Mary's Loop (and Horsethief Bench) were great rides for what I would call intermediate to advanced riders. There were great views of the Colorado River and the canyon. Some exposure and technical sections, but nothing too extreme.

This is a great loop for hiking or mountain biking. If you do hike here, please be aware that you will be sharing the trail with many mountain bikers. There is room for both. You can see the Colorado River, some great views of canyons and from the north side of the ridge some nice views of the Bookcliffs and the Grand Valley. Bring plenty of water, it can get hot.

This is a great place to Mtn Bike or Hike. As you can see from the pictures this day I hiked and took photos. Rustler's Loop was loaded with flowers and is considered a beginner's mountain biking trail.

A great ride into a well-mapped and marked trail system. Spend an hour or all day. Great views and any level of trail difficulty you want.

Why spend the extra hour plus in the car to travel west beyond the Zion curtain and into Moab? Better beer and wine and bike shops and people are extremely friendly. Enjoy the single track.

Whether you are hiking or biking this trail and its companions offer some of the best desert riding in the state. With its series of trails there is no shortage of the diversity one can find. The scenic views and its rock formations are truly spectacular.

Mary's Loop serves as the backbone for an entire network of trails which are some of the best mountain bike trails in the world. There is a great deal of variety here including trails for timid novices up to world class experts, all with fantastic scenery. An absolute must stop for anyone who likes to ride.
