This was a very small local County History Museum. It is in a small little basement area, but it's packed with all kinds of neat history that you really don't get to see in the high touristy areas. It didn't take that long to go through, and there was plenty of interesting information to make it a nice little stop.

The museum added only one important aspect of knowledge. It provided a census record indicating the slave and non-slave population. Other than that it was not worth the price of admission. It is much more impressive to walk the terrain than to view this collection. The staff was friendly.

We crossed paths at the post office with one of the museum docents and he encouraged us to visit. We certainly were glad we took his advice. The museum has lots of information and displays on various times in the county's history. Native American, Revolutionary, Civil and Second World War (I learned German prisoners of war were kept in Yorktown and released during the daytime to work on area farms, in fact, many of them stayed after the war.) Ron was extremely informative and willing to answer any and all questions. There is a lot to discover here.

I found the museum rather boring but the outdoor exhibits were AMAZING! Don't miss the cannon firing!

Locationed not far from the river front, this museum doesn't scream for entry, however once you are inside you will be treat to a good old fashioned museum. May not be a good spot for youngsters who find it necessary to carry their phones and electronic games.
Listen to hear how this historical area has developed . About fifty years ago most families might not have ventured to this history filled area.

We just happened to drive over to Yorktown from Williamsburg. Yorktown is an undiscovered historic town. We just happen to be there on the first weekend of December when they were having a street fair. And in the museum they had lots and lots of homemade crafts. Don't miss the history of this town.

This museum compliments the other Yorktown Must visit.

The artifacts are of a more personal nature, and we recommend a visit to all members of the family.

The gentleman that runs the museum is extremely knowledgable about the county and it's long history. He does tours with everyone that comes in and is so friendly. Well worth stopping in to visit.
