This is sort of a local secret that offers a pleasant place to enjoy the water while being close to historical parks and museums. Great shopping and restaurants nearby. Wonderful July Fourth parade is a great hometown style old-fashioned affair complete with a town crier...More

Water is murky and loaded with jelly fish. Beach is not large enough to accommodate guests. Sail boarding area is way too small and sadly limited due to Navy. Would be nice to have sail boarding get togethers for groups.

Clean, family friendly beach. Small but not too crowded early in the mornings. Shallow areas where kids can play, no waves except from passing boats. Fishing pier very sound and active throughout the day. Little noisy from the Coleman Bridge but it doesn't drown out...More

This is a nice little surprise when visiting the historical sites. We have been here before but in the fall. In the spring the area comes to life. A lot of people on the small beaches but did not seen crowded. You have young, old,...More

Great place to go for a dip if you're visiting Williamsburg and don't want to trek to Virginia beach! There is a little beach area across the street from the parking garage, which is where we went, only to find out that there is a...More

Pretty beach to walk around. Lots of jellyfish in the water so definitely not a place for me to enjoy swimming but still a tranquil place to set up a chair with a good book.

This is a great little beach with lots of sun. The water is calm with great views of passing by boats and ships. It's just down the road from the bridge and if you are lucky you might get to see the bridge open for...More

The sun was out and there were many folks taking in the sun on the beaches. It's popular with the locals and has nice views. Parking is tight.

We made a brief stop here after seeing the historic areas. Small, calm beach, good for young kids to play for a bit.

There are still some jelly fish. As the water gets cooler, you will see less and less.

Matthew (above) answered your ? Quite thoroughly. Though I might add, the beach upriver has no lifeguards and I would emphasize the boat traffic is also more congested there. Also sea nettles might be a problem if you don't... More

The beach swim area is marked by buoys. It is fairly modest in size. The river will have a lot of boating traffic on the 4th of July weekend and would not be safe for a swim of that length for most people. In calm weather... More
