This no entry fee facility was an interesting piece of civil war history. The visitor center was very clean and provides a video storyline explaining Chickamauga's place during the war. The National Park Rangers were very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. There are numerous artifacts on...More

This battlefield is the oldest and largest of America's Civil War parks. As battlefields girl, it is massive. Do not plan on covering the whole thing in one day, or on foot, especially if you are a history buff. Horseback riding and bikes are great...More

Starting at the museum you will learn about the different kinds and styles of weapons and uniforms and modes of travel and upstairs they have a lecture. Take the tour of the park and take your time and enjoy.

Folklore tells us that "Chickamauga" means the "River of Death." The wounded, killed, and exhausted soldiers covered the sacred grounds of this hallowed battlefield from September 18th-20th before the Federal troops made a miraculous retreat back to Chattanooga to fight another day. Folklore named Union...More

The visitor's center and the grounds atvthis historic site were both well maintained. Monuments everywhere marking various people/parts of the battle. We did not do the narrated driving tour, but drove through at our own pace with our children. Landscape is lovely even if you...More

Words cannot describe this place, the second bloodiest battle of the civil war took place on these hallow grounds. It is so beautiful and peaceful now. The grounds are immense, so you drive through the park. But please try and take the tour with the...More

I think you sent this comment to the wrong reviewer. My review mentioned nothing about casualty rates of the Spanish American War.

No problem with pets.....just pick up after yourselves. Sorry to have to say that, however there are so many who do not and it is a problem. There are many people who walk their pets through the wooded trails.
