Yummy Teas!
Jan 2020
We go here at least once a month to get tea. The Hibiscus is our favorite. Great place for gifts, too! They also have classes available.

You Can Smell it a Block Away!
Apr 2019
Walking down Main Street the air fills with the amazing aromas of this shop. Is it curry? Something sweet? Maybe a lemongrass? Oh, let's go in and find out! They have an unbeatable selection of spices from around the world. Everything is packaged beautifully. There are interesting things to buy, cookbooks and assorted sweets. I never go in that I don't buy something unusual and wonderful.

What a fun store!
Jun 2018 • Friends
I love to cook with spices so I was all in when the girlfriends wanted to visit this store after our lunch at Limon Y Sal on the corner. The walls are lined with jars of spices and teas. They have pickles, elixirs and gift items too. We stumbled on called Bloody Mary Elixir from the Pacific Pickle Company. The sales person asked if we would like to try it. She took us to the back of the store and mixed some with tomato juice (no vodka, darn) for us to taste. It was pretty zippy. I don't like tomato juice (ketchup too) but I may learn to like it. All my girlfriends love Bloody Marys but I have never had one. Maybe things will change with this magic bullet. This is a real fun store that smells wonderful. You can try everything. What a great way to get exposed to new spices, salts, peppers and, even, Bloody Mary mix. I think I saw they have cooking classes or demos. I think. I may be wrong. Unfortunately, the store is geographically undesirable for me. I was just passing through town. Locals should support this store.

Spices, teas, butters, jellies, marmalades, & ghost pepper! OH MY!
Jul 2018 • Couples
I drove 2 hours to check this place out! It was well worth it! From the time I hit the sidewalk in front of the building my sense of smell was on high. I felt like I received a big hug from the aromas coming from the store. I could smell the teas, the spices from the rubs, something that was sweet and savory that I could not identify. (But it sure did smell good!) I was offered the opportunity to taste several of their butter spreads. I was sold on the flavors right away. Their products are made by locals, which that is always great to hear. The service that we received was over the top! Thank you Arick for taking care of us by answering all our questions and allowing us to sample the products. I will be going back to get the Chipotle peanut spread!

Cooks & foodies delight!

Unusual spices all available to sniff. If some don't agree with your nose, they have free tea samples to cleanse the palate. I tried the walnut butters and had to buy one. The local macaroons were delicious. I also bought Merlot infused salt and catnip. Fun!

The bar is gone, but butters are better
Jan 2017
If you remember this place from years ago, you may have a fond recollection of a bar in the back, where people sat for long periods of time, sipping inexpensive tea and chatting with staff. Those days of unprofitable quasi-business are over; the bar is still there, but only one or two of their funky mushroom-looking chairs remain. Now, consistent with Ventura's effort to be more like Santa Barbara and less like Bakersfield, Spice-Topia has become more of a boutique business. In this case, the loss of modest, low-key enjoyment of a simple life is more than compensated by the high quality products they offer and the continued friendliness of their staff. In particular, check out the wide variety of nut butters with flavorings. If Venturans (and tourists) can keep a place like this in business, it says a lot of good things about the potential for downtown Ventura.

Fantastic Selection
Jun 2016 • Couples
I came here with my daughter and was blown away by the incredible variety. The service was exceptional and the ability to taste everything put me in the poorhouse after I staggered to the checkout counter with my overfull basket. I will definitely be back.

Prepare with a fistful of quarters to pay for street parking.
