We cycled to the pier from Ojai, looking forward to a leisurely stroll on the pier. It was not to be as they are doing major maintenance. C'est la vie. We could still see how wonderful it would have been. We had to be content with enjoying the amazing view from the small portion we were on, watching the surfers... More

When you walk out to the end of this long pier and then turn around, the whow facter sets in, with the view of the Ventura foothills and the Maricopa mountain range behind that. The view is good in the summer but is evidently best in the winter when there is less moisture in the air. Watching the surf under... More

If you visit soon, Please don't judge Ventura's Harbor, beach front and Promenade at this time. This year's winter's storms have been especially fierce. Our sand is gone and beaches are strewn with rocks, wood and debris. At this time, the pier, the harbor and a large portion of the Promenade are closed. The City is struggling to repair and... More

Its nothing special. Whats nice is that is by the ocean besides that I found it to be very windy and lacking of shops.

I like bringing the kids here. There is an arcade where you can win tickets and trade them for cheap toys. Kind of like Chuck-E-Cheese. You can grab a bite at the different restaurants and get some ice cream.

Wanted to walk the pier with my dog, but it's closed because of a storm knocking out some supports. Still able to go to 2 restaurants. We chose Ericsson's. Sat outside with water view, with my dog, and had wonderful fresh fish for lunch.

Although the pier is closed right now, after storm damage, walking and biking the promenade was one of the highlights of my week in Ventura. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza, conveniently located between the promenade and downtown and enjoyed the ease of walking everywhere, from the beaches to Main Street. I was happy I hadn't bothered to rent a... More

Sad to say the pier is currently closed. It was damaged mid-December by high waves. In early January, while the damaged pylons were being repaired, Mother Nature sent more high surf in. I guess it will all be reassessed and the work will be done as time and weather permit.

There is something about pier's in the U.S. , they tend attract all types of people, Ventura Pier is good for people watching. Ventura in general has really cleaned up its act. I hadn't visited Ventura in about 25-30 years but it's changed for the BETTER!

Went to see one of the oldest standing piers in California but found that the latest storm had really hit it hard. It is under construction to help it not fall into the ocean. Cute seafood restaurant and supposed one of the best fish tacos around (according to a local). We decided to take a walk along the board walk... More
