I just love recycling, so I was pleased when this failed church was transformed into a theatre. The productions have been a mixed bag, but Ventura is a small town.

My wife and I went to see the Musical and Dance Play, “Grease.” There was some fine solo singers backed up by an outstanding Live Band. The Director assembled a very fine cast of actors and actresses. Lots of dancing, singing — brought back memories of John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Most of the cast were high schoolers or of early college age and exhibited tremendous energy in their dance numbers. We have been to the Rubicon at least five times and have never been disappointed. Ventura is a beautiful city and so is its Rubicon Theatre.

I have never been disappointed with the quality of Rubicon's productions. The actors, the technicians and the house staff are all outstanding. I have attended more than 20 productions here over the years and the performances are always top-notch. The Rubicon utilizes local talent as well as professional talent which keeps the interest high. They are also quite involved in giving back to the community. Ventura is so lucky to have theater of this quality in our midst.

We saw A Christmas Carol. We have seen many versions on stage and this was one of the better directed and acted. There was very clever use of the stage and props and a well thought out combination of narration and acting which allowed more of the original novel to be presented in an effective manner. The quality of the acting was quite good. The theater was small and intimate. This was our first time there as we live an hour away, but we will certainly be back.
