Description:

Buenaventura Golf Course was originally designed by legendary golf course...

Buenaventura Golf Course was originally designed by legendary golf course architect William Park Bell in 1932. In 2005, the course re-opened after a $6.5 million renovation by Forrest Richardson. The parkland-style course aims towards design features that were prevalent in the 1930s. With classic shapes and edges, stepping on the course is like taking a step back in time. Playing at just over 6,000 yards to a par of 70, Buenaventura is a shot maker’s delight with mature trees, subtle undulations and rolling contours suitable for all playing abilities. The course also features the 19th Pub & Grille. Buenaventura Golf Course is rated “4 Stars” by Golf Digest “Best Places to Play.”

The pace of play is terrible, expect over 5 hour round. They also put out fivesomes which make it even worse. There are no marshalls or anyone else on the course, after they get your money you are on your own......

Pretty course, very green and well maintained. Fun even for someone who is not super good. Not too hared to walk.

Play this course once or twice a year. Course fairways are open and drive-able. Greens are nice and the rough isn't too rough. Pace is fast. In the morning is probably the best due to zero or very light winds. Afternoons the breeze can pick up from the ocean. Overall a fun course for all levels.

This course is a bit further inland from Olivos Links and is a bit easier, too (a good thing!). My Mom and I come here regularly for a tournament.

This is a short course but it IS fun to play and basically well kept for a small greens fee. The layout is "very interesting" as Arte Cane would say on Laugh IN. It is one of the best deals for golf in Ventura County. Don't miss it! If you though this review was helpful, please let Tripadvisor know.

I play here with a group every Sunday. It's a short, relatively easy course. The staff are excellent, the course could use some work. A lot of bare areas, lack of sand in the bunkers. The greens are somewhat slow, the rough not very high. A really good course for high handicappers (like me).

I can't give you all my secrets but love this one for late afternoon play when it is uncrowned. Simple layout with beautiful trees, wide fairways, shorter par fours and nice greens, bunkers and water features make it an excellent place for casual practice rounds if you are just a casual golfer. Pros would blast it. Amateurs love it. Always... More

Course was really in good shape considering the drought. Not much rough, not too long, not too much water. A few challenging sand traps and decent green speed. And Mondays were twilight rates all day for everyone!

I'm also not a long ball hitter so this is a GREAT course for me. The old established trees and landscaping make it a real pleasure to enjoy and somewhat a challenge to play. The little cafe is above average and the folks in the pro shop are way above average. And it's a GREAT buy as golf goes. Thanks... More

This is a fairly easy course, from the looks of it. Drove a bucket of balls, and that's all this visit. Staff seemed a little bored.
