I was very impressed with this zoo. All of the animals were active and in great shape. The zoo has an impressive number of animals. The staff were wonderful and really knew their stuff! Free parking and I paid only $9(senior pricing) to get in but the only negative is that the gift shop was very expensive and if you have children you know they will want something to take home. I highly recommend this zoo-you will not be disappointed.

If you have small children they will enjoy this zoo. Splash pad and other play areas alongside some cute animals. I think they are working hard to help with animal conservation. However there were a number of empty exhibit areas, the windows in the exhibits need cleaning and many just need to be replaced. It’s just not a great zoo

The animals live in very small dirty cages my grandson thought it was very sad. There were a few animals all alone.I thought being such a large city they would have a nice zoo if you want to be sad go to the El Paso zoo!!!

I felt so sad for the animals in this zoo. The enclosure are
small and not well cared for. The elephant looked down right depressed. And a lot of it was closed off to the public. Not a lot of animals for a zoo either.

The El Paso zoo is clean and well run. The animals all look healthy and cared for.

There is a cafe, face painting...clean bathrooms...merry go round...nice play area for children.

We are a military family, new to El Paso, so we decided to take the kids to the zoo since it's spring break. At first we thought the discount for active duty military and spouse was decent, since it was $7.50 each. Once we finished with the zoo, we have decided that even the discounted admission isn't worth spending at such a terrible excuse for a zoo. A description of the zoo at the entrance said it would take about 2-3 hours to walk through the entire zoo. Let me tell you that even with a senior citizen in tow with a bad back, who had to take multiple breaks by sitting down, we finished in less than 2 hours. The most exciting part of the zoo was the elephant training session we just happened to see. All the animals are in small, non-descript pens, there's not enough activities for the kids to keep their attention, and a lot of pens said animals were coming soon. I am a little biased as being from Ft Worth, TX where the zoo is absolutely phenomenal and it would be an all-day afair (at least 6 hours). The positive side to visiting the zoo; there was no charge for parking. But on that note, it was hard to find a spot; we just happened to get lucky after a full 5 minutes of cruising the parking lot.

My wife and I recently visited this border town and during our visit we experienced several local attractions including the Zoo. The zoo covers about 35 acres and is well laid out. African, Asian, and animals of the Americas were represented as well as assorted reptiles, primates, and even a sea lion. The treehouse forest was a nice treat for the children visiting with their parents and very popular with the little ones. A slow moving miniature train ride surrounds the zoo and is a pleasant way to view the various exhibits at a leisurely pace. The entrance fee is reasonable as are the souvenirs in the gift shop. All in all it's a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

The zoo is great in the summer but seeing in the winter devastated my children. They saw how the animals are taken care of in the off season and couldn't get over the depressing sight ...

We just moved to El Paso this summer and I was surprized to see what a great zoo is here! The zoo is not huge, but several of the exibits are very up-close for kids. Many of the animals are very interactive. We bought a pass and love it!
