The museum is so cute! Great for younger kids, but still engaging for teens. Lots of interesting things to read, and hands-on activities. The little farm outside was the best part. Many different animals, that had enough room in their enclosure to walk around and be comfortable. Really nice gift shop. The staff were very kind and answered questions.

We had a wonderful visit to Heifer Village and ate at the restaurant on site. Such a good experience and great to visit the headquarters of the organization that is truly making a difference around the world. I have long admired their vision of supplying goats, livestock to small villages to give them a start at becoming self sufficient.

The sandwich was REALLY good, price was very reasonable and I loved the organic nature of their products.

The gift shop has many unique gift items that make your shopping easy.

I grew up in Little Rock in the 80s, the Buckle of the Bible Belt in the middle of Reagan's America. I love what my hometown has become and this is one if its jewels. The organization is fantastic and the Village is an awesome place to take spoiled first world kids (like mine) to get them some insight into the broader world without a parental lecture.

The building is killer too. It is all modern and sleek and green and LEED certified and almost worth the trip in itself. It has a touch of SE Asia in the landscaping with a series of moat-like naturalized canals and patches of tall grasses.

There is one spot where you can stand in front of the building and look through the tall grasses and see the Clinton Presidential Library and the river beyond. It's a beautiful view and is evocative of how far the city has gone and what it has become.

We are already supporters of Heifer International, but even if you're not, a visit here could be rewarding.

The facility and grounds are quite attractive, parking and admission are free. When you enter the visitor center, the staff will explain in fine edetail all of the things you can see while there. It's worth a half-hour or so to browse through their interactive exhibits to learn about the good work they do around the world. Their cafeteria offers some pretty tasty cheesecake! The gift shop contains many tempting items.

For many, the main attraction is to stroll out back to visit their animals, which routinely include some recently born--on our day that meant a baby alpaca, one day old.

As a result of this visit, I'm planning to send them more money,.

Heifer International is a non-profit humanitarian organization with the mission of empowering, teaching and providing resources to those climbing out of poverty and difficult circumstances. Their programs are specifically designed to further the community long after Heifer has done their part.

They offer tours of the building. It is extremely eco friendly and LEED certified. On the tour you go through the entire building (working offices and all) to see the various aspects (from how they had the windows slanted to catching rainwater and using it in the toilets and so many other aspects). The main lobby is beautiful with a wonderful gift shop that carries fair trade, organic & village made items. They also carry books & souvenirs. It is one of the best gift shops I have been to. The main lobby has interactive displays & exhibits explaining their mission, history and how they accomplish their mission. Videos, hands-on exhibits & imagery make the display interesting and entertaining.

They also have a cafe with limited hours. Much of the food is local and it is delicious. The cafe is friendly and a nice place to eat at for a break from downtown.

Visiting Heifer International is a fantastic way to view the world with new perspective and see beyond yourself.

Really enjoyed seeing the Gardens , visiting the Gift shop .
The Goat soap & Lotion are made local . They only had a few animals out ( Alpacas )& the barn was closed , maybe because it was late in the season ? This is a free walk thru . We did eat lunch there. They make your Food from the gardens so you know it's fresh . The staff were very helpful and nice . My take away is we are so lucky and shouldn't take what we have for granted .

This place is free, and right next to the Clinton Presidential Library, so I thought I'd check it out. I read below some people were confused where to go. The headquarters where all the business takes place is on the right, the Visitor's Center is on the left.

I had never heard of Heifer International before, but as soon as I walked thru the doors of the Visitor's Center I was greeted warmly and given my own private tour, teaching me all they do, and what wonderful work they do too. I was so impressed and proud of their mission: Providing livestock to poor developing communities around the world, who use that livestock to support themselves, get out of poverty, improve their education, healthcare, and so much more.

After the tour I was able to wander around myself, checking out all the displays. Out back in the red barn and enclosed field they have animals you can check out such as goats, alpacas, hogs, turkeys, and of course heifers. Also ducks wander around. A great place to check out on a nice day. Highly recommended, especially if you have kids.

I had heard about Heifer International, having received a donation card in honor of one of my children in lieu of a birthday gift years ago. I was dropping my rising 5th grade daughter off at camp the next day and was looking for some things for us to do in Little Rock and was excited when I realized Heifer HQ were located there. This is an excellent organization with a simple and empowering mission. It was a fantastic learning experience for both me and my daughter, who found the inside hands-on aspect just as interesting as the gift shop and the live animals - and she loves animals! We picked up information that we plan to share with her all-girls school in New Orleans and girl scout troop to explore ways either or both of them can get involved with the organization and perhaps even a weekend trip. My daughter was so excited to learn about the "womens' lambing weekend" in the spring until we realize you must be 14yo. She is hoping they might reconsider the minimum age requirement!

Heifer has a noble mission that everyone should be able to support...improve the lives of poor people around the world. The hands-on experience was interesting for my kids (ages 10 and 8...the 3 year old had fun too!) and helped them understand the disparity of food, education, etc. around the world. There is also a large garden and some animal pens to visit...my girls loved feeding the goats! Did I mention it’s free and the a/c was cranking...perfect for a July day in Little Rock!

This was an interesting experience that I just happened upon while visiting the Clinton Library. It was very neat to view the film which talked about the mission Heifer International and importance of helping people sustain their lives.
