We were surprised at the size of the zoo. It was on 35 acres with room to grow. Admission charges varied with the seasons. The highest during the prime summer months. During the time of our visit in mid-October, they were in the September 8th - November 8th price bracket: $16.95 - Adults - ages 13 & up $11.50 -... More

We left this zoo feeling very sad and deoressed just like the animals must be. All the enclosures are dirty, small, or unfit for the species it housed. The pathways are dirt, or gravel and strollers are impossible here. The smell was overwhelming, much worse than any other zoo Ive been too. Some of the animals were pacing so much... More

We have visited Catoctin Wildlife Preserve for years but this is our first opportunity to review it. While we always enjoy seeing the animals we feel sad that many of them are in small enclosures and/or settings that are not akin to their natural habitats. Some changes would be helpful to make this a more enjoyable experience. You are provided... More

This is a small zoo, and doesn't have many of the more modern, fancy habitats that large zoos have. Many animals are in small cages, which is unfortunate, but they appear to be well cared for. Some animals did exhibit cage stress of endless, aimless pacing around, particularly the wolves and the sun bears. They could benefit from some enrichment... More

Haven't been there for years but when my children were young we would spend the whole day there. The kids loved the slide and the animals.

My family and I visited the Catoctin Zoo over the weekend. We have a 3 year old and a 5 month old. We also met my parents there. My first impression upon exiting the gift shop where you buy tickets, is how nice and natural the setting was. You don't immediately see large metal cages and enclosures. We visited the... More

Amazing day for children and adults as well! Lots of hands on with animals - rest stops - little playgrounds etc.

I've been going to this zoo for over 10 years now. Yes, it may be a little pricey but beings as it is a family run zoo that probably survives off of it's visitors I love the place. I've been here on days when I've been able to see the keepers interact with the wild cats...back in the days where... More

First thing. Go to the bathroom as soon as you go into the park because it is the only real bathroom, despite the deceptive bathroom signs on their maps! The rest are gross port o potties. We went in August before school started and the entire safari was closed. Ok, so the rest of the park is fairly nice. Mostly... More
