It all started when a danish immigrant moved to New York City to study hospitality management after having visited the City thirteen times over the course of the prior five years. Living in a neighborhood of Queens, she quickly realized that there is so many parts of New York City that tourists do not get to experience. That had to change and her niche-market sightseeing company started to take shape. Today she offers a variety of off-the-beaten path walking tours combined with the highlights of New York City. She partners with local suppliers; store owners, restaurateurs and licensed tour guides that have a strong passion for the neighborhoods of New York City. We had a great and interesting tour with Maria in Brooklyn and Williamsburg. She is a very friendly and engaged person with a lot of good stories to tell. Would recommend to all visiting New York, both danish speaking and non danish speaking visitors.

Yesterday I went on a guided tour in Queens with the Danish Maria-Leena, who herself lives in the borough of Queens. Maria managed to make the trip both enjoyable and interesting - and made me want to experience more of Queens.
On the trip, we visited three very different neighborhoods in Queens: Flushing, Jackson Heights and Forrest Hills. It gave a good picture of the district's diversity.
Maria has a lot of knowledge, which she is happy to share (in fact so much that the trip was extended by an hour).
Along the way, we learned about the history of New York City - and how Queens fits into it. In addition, Maria told personal stories from her life and everyday life in New York.

Not only did I get a fast, informative and very professionel answer as soon as I contacted The Danish Tour Guide for help, guidance and assistance. We have just returned home after 10 wonderful days in New York. On day 2 we had a tour with Mariaa-Leena of 2 hours in Chinatown. It was the best way to start our holiday. We gained lots of knowledge about the EXCITING district we were in, from the establishment of the district to now. Maria-Leena also talked about what it is like to live as a Dane in New York today, which we were also very curious about.
The tour was good for everyone in our family, mother and father and three children aged 9, 9 and 11. The children loved Maria-Leena, who shared lots of useful knowledge that we enjoyed for the rest of our trip in New York.
There was no hustle and bustle, we stopped at a market and bought a dragonfruit with us. When the children got thirsty there was a good time to stop in for drinks.
It means EVERYTHING for a family with children that you don't feel like a burden - even though we sometimes are :-)
We have bought books and followed facebook pages in preparation for the trip to New York. Maria gave us much more than what we had read ourselves for and beyond all this, we got more than the two hours we had bought.
We give our warmest recommendation.

Maria, the Danish speaking guide, was "the best". We have been in NY before, but getting the story behind the different sights were really interesting. Furthermore Maria knows the American society and how it is to be living in a country much differrent from ours - she answered all of our questions and more. We would indeed highly recommend Maria. As a present I booked a 4 hour guided tour for my solo-travelling daughter (18, German) with Maria-Leena. Maria-Leena is very trustworthy and nice person. The contact via e-mail / WhatsApp was fast and helpful. At the tour day Maria-Leena picked up my daughter from Hoboken and showed her bits and parts of NYC they have appointed prior to the tour via social media.
It was a great experience for my daughter - she enjoyed the tour so much and I got a big thank you.

Very cute and narrative guide who interestingly could tell about the Harlem district and its origins.
