The music, the kids are fantastic, Dewey is great and can get the audience going. It started a little slow but once it kicks into gear you are totally into the music, the story and you want to see again. It is a good show for families as well

Great show.... and we only paid $39 for end of row seats - 4 and 5 rows from the front!! Fabulous show with extremely talented young actors and actresses. Everyone was involved and standing clapping and singing by the end!! A must see! (To get the cheap tickets, go to the box office from 10am and ask for them - they cant offer them to you but can give them if asked specifically).

I had a really difficult time deciding on which show to take my 10 y/o and 12 y/o to see while visiting NYC. I'm so glad that I decided on School of Rock. The story and the entire cast of adult and child performers were fantastic!! The music, high energy and humor kept the attention of my kids for every bit of the show. My husband and I loved it, too! You will not be disappointed.

Our seats were Right, Orchestra, Row B, Seats 2-8. I was a little unsure if these would be good seats, but they were excellent. I'm glad that I saved a little money by going right instead of center.

After reading the other reviews, I find myself wondering if I saw the same show. This was by far the worst Broadway performance I have seen. I have seen High School performances that have been better. The music was not memorable. Everyone was over acting. The voices were not good. The actress that played the principal was so off key on her solo that it was cringe worthy. The positives are the theatre is very small so all seats are good and the show was definitely family friendly.

For all the hype and spectacle I found this performance a total and complete dud. If I were to rank the musical solely on the ability of the lead actor to reincarnate Joe Black, Id give a grade of A+. But I saw the movie already, in fact many times. I was not looking for an exact remake. I was so excited to learn that Andrew Lloyd Webber was responsible for this production, and based on the overwhelmingly positive critical reviews I was expecting at the very least some originality. This was an upscale high school production. Totally mundane and uninspired. Most of the big hit numbers were exactly the same as the film version. A song or two was added, one in part to show the range and vocal talents of the lead female. The outfits, dialogue, plot and majority of the songs were a complete ripoff. I can only perhaps recommend this to someone who had never seen the movie. The movie featured Joe Black, in all his wonderful manic crazy brilliance. That's him, in whatever he does. I never really felt convinced that the lead did anything other than stick to that tried and true established niche. Not even the slightest effort to carve out a new unique and original character portrayal. There students too were mere cardboard cutouts of the original characters. The "stick it to the man" quote of the movie was a resounding classic. Hilarious when said in a straight monotone by a dorky Asian kid. Here, this mantra becomes the basis for the finale and intermission hit numbers. Reminded me of the borefest Mary Poppins, where they take a "spoon full of sugar" and make you overdose on it till you need insulin. A remake of a hit Broadway show is one thing, but copying an outstanding movie verbatim is useless.

I've seen almost everything that's currently running. I saw School of Rock yesterday and wasn't that crazy about it. I was just expecting more. I felt like a lot of the actors did not speak clearly, it was hard to understand what they were saying. I am comparing this to Matilda the Musical because post casts were made up primarily from children. I LOVED Matilda. It was done so well. The children in that show were incredibly talented. I was underwhelmed by the talent of the School of Rock children. They did no dancing other than jumping around for 2 minutes. I remember Matilda's kids doing choreographed numbers dancing on swings, scooters, and desks. The whole show only had like 2 wow moments, other than that it was pretty baseline entertaining. I had such high hopes but I was disappointed. I was glad I had discounted tickets and didn't pay full price.

If you are taking a kid to go see a show this summer season take them to see Spongebob instead. Way more entertaining and the quality of talent is supreme to the School of Rock.

You do not feel like hearing their political agenda. We went when the women march was happening (if you want to call it that) and they made political statements in the play. Not Cool!

We had a blast watching the School of Rock The Musical. The actors are amazing, the music is fantastic. We had great seats, but there was a family of giants sitting right in front of us. If you have a smaller child, they offer cushioned booster seats, which helped a bit. Over all the experience was great. We went to the box office on the day of the performance and asked for "rush tickets" we got them for $37 each!!!! What a bargain for a Broadway show.

School of Rock can not be missed. They stayed very close to the movie story wise. The children were super talented! The role of Dewey was played by the understudy and he was perfect. He sounded like Jack Black from the move. We really enjoyed to show. Be sure to check for discounted tickets on Theatermania, I got a great deal.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is a guarantee for a good show. We were not disappointed hence. The young kids that play in the show were amazing as well. A big compliment for them for the enthusiasm and displayed skills.

Was all that enough for the wow effect a day later still?? unfortunately NO

This show in the European perspective lacks depth and satire for example to really fascinate adults. Does this make this a bad show? No not at all
