The best time to do this is when it’s dark out. Seeing the lights from the carousel is super cool. It’s $5 a person make sure you get a fish that spins and goes up and down. This is fun for kids and adults.

We went to Manhattan primarily to visit the 9/11 Museum. I had seen an article on the SeaGlass Carousel and thought it would be a fun stop on the way. I found it a huge disappointment because only adults or children old enough to ride by themselves would be able to ride. Each "vehicle" could hold only one person, and the were mounted on different planes so that two people would not even be near each other as they are on a standard carousel. Fine for solitary riders, but not much fun for a group of friends.

If you are in the area, it’s a nice thing to do. It lights up so it’s especially pretty in the evening. Kids and adults alike enjoyed it. $5/person and that’s a good price for NYC

I brought my daughter to the city for the weekend and this carousel was amazing. A must do. My daughter went on it 10 times. If you are on a budget its only 5 dollars.

My husband and I discovered the carousel while walking around the Battery one evening. I HAD to check it out! This concept is beautiful, from the fish to the music, to even the mechanics of the motion.
A star is missing from me because although it has a lock-in car for patrons with wheelchairs (standing was not an option, as per the ride operator), it does not have a regular bench seat like most carousels do. That would be useful for those with mobility (or other) issues who do not use a wheelchair but would prefer to ride sitting down. I will still recommend this to others to visit.

Sought this out purposefully as I really wanted to see just how beautiful it was after reading about it online. It didn't disappoint, absolutely mesmerising music and motion of the carousel. There was a steady queue of children waiting to ride it and a steady queue of adults entranced by how beautiful it is/was. The music is really apt too - reminded me of Twin Peaks.

I was visiting NYC with my 12 year-old son and we decided to try out the Sea Glass Carousel. We loved it so much, we went twice! Once during day and one at night. Worth the detour!

This is a very interesting indoor carousel at the river front. It’s really funky and costs $5 a ride.

I spotted this on a google map while searching the downtown area for toddler friendly activities. What a gem! Our almost 2 year old loved it (twice), as did her parents!
