This was our favorite spot for cocktails on a recent trip to Manhattan. Cozy, intimate vibe, great service and unique cocktails crafted with care. Only wish we had time to stay for a second drink!

Me & my husband visited New York City in January 2018. This was one of the bars we just found online and decided to check it out. We arrived quite early, I think just 30mins after their opening time so we didn't have to wait. We saw a head pop through the door asking us to come in. They don't have a menu so we were just asked what flavours we like and what base spirit we would choose. Both cocktails were amazing! Would be handy to know the price before ordering though so you could kind of know what sort of money you are spending! :)

Small speakeasy bar hidden away in disguise down a small side street! Loved the quirkiness of the place and the cocktails were great! We didn't go off the menu the bartender made something up based on the type of cocktail we like and he was spot on. Would definitely go back!

TL;DR - not recommended, bad drinks, poor service, rude host, safety hazards, extremely overrated. Go to Angel's Share instead for actual creativity and great drink and spirits list.

I am not even sure where to start with this. I had this place bookmarked for ages because I knew it had great reviews, although I didn't know anyone who personally liked it, and I wanted to come.

Came here pretty early on a Sunday morning (i.e. AM time, so Saturday 'night'?) and knocked on the door. First, because there's no handle, I nearly was knocked to the ground after I rang the bell because someone inside busted the door open (other patrons leaving). It would be nice if they told the other patrons that people are unaware or may not know as they're standing right outside the door so they should be careful. Definitely a safety hazard.

We were eventually greeted by a guy who took down our name and number. I requested repeatedly for a rough time frame. I understand it's hard for them to know exactly, but I explained my situation. We were leaving on a plane in a few hours and wanted to know if we could get a drink in the next hour to try it out or we should go somewhere else. I think that's a perfectly reasonable ask. Repeatedly, the host told us to wait, wait, wait, that it would be soon, and I continued to say that it was okay if we didn't get in, we just wanted to know if it was possible within a timeframe, and it just felt like he kept us on this leash for no reason. It was cold, damp, misty and 2am in NYC. This is not where I want to wait outside.

We eventually waited with some other couples (and ultimately, we waited for over an hour after he kept telling us 'very soon, very soon'), and chatted with them about speakeasys in NYC. This was probably the most positive experience of the night because everything after this was epic fail.

We were finally let inside, but not even given a place to be stashed. I am talking like they put us in the walkway where the servers come in and out to serve drinks. There was nothing said to us about whether we were waiting for something, or whether they're cleaning a table, or any ETA on where we would even be able to stand out of the way. So we were constantly getting bumped by people moving by (and yes we were the ONLY people standing in the walkway at the bar, everyone else had a place to either sit or stand not in the actual walkway, I am also pretty sure this is a safety hazard and will report this up to the NYC OSHA authorities). The bartender asked us for our drink choices, and their whiskey list was literally like .... 12. They had 12 whiskeys, maybe, in their repository.

I explained that I like whiskey based drinks and didn't like jager type flavors, and he went off and made me basically what I would consider to be a fruitier jager bomb. WOW. really? $25 for a jager bomb? There was no creativity in this drink whatsoever and it tasted awful.

I can't believe we waited for over an hour in the cold, to be repeatedly told we'd get in when he could have just cut us loose, not given anywhere to sit or stand nor any timeframe and on top of that being in the walkway bumped and basically treated like sub-par patrons despite paying the same was absolutely absurd.

If you are looking for a cool experience, there are literally dozens of other great speakeasy and other bars in the area that you can go to with less attitude and way better drinks. SKIP.

for those who want to go to a cocktail bar in NY I strongly discouraged the Attaboy, in 134 Eldridge St., no hospitality, arrogance and rudeness...I m soo sorry, but they were so badly with us and our guest...It was one of the cocktail pinned to visit absolutely, and after a dinner close to the Attaboy we went there but only soo much arrogance. We asked explanations if the problem was that we were Italians (i'm 37 ys old and the other guys 40 and 47...we are not children...and the boy at the door it's wasn't polite and professional but He started yelling and he start to mock me and my friends and in the same time other people go inside...!Do you want to know what's the strange thing? six days after, a friend of mine (italian), one of the most important cocktails writer in Italy move from NOLA to NY for pleasure and he go to the ATTABOY after 6 days and...he received the same treatment.
I do not care who you are..The first rule in this work is welcome and humility and perhaps you and your beautiful bar still have to learn it
definitely not one of the best 50 may be into the worst!!!

I arranged to visit Attaboy as our first date was at Milk and Honey on our last night in New York. So this should have been special. Despite getting in before others, we were made to stand as we were a couple. We very politely asked if we could sit in an empty booth to drink our drink quickly in 5 mins then go. We were not told we would have to stand by a drinks prep area and drink, I’m recovering from a broken ankle. We explained this and was only met with a flat out no and hostility. We left without trying the drink.

Don’t believe the hype.

The most expensive unimaginative small measure cocktails we had on this trip. Below average bar in every respect. We didn’t tip at 19 dollars a drink which were worth no more than 10. Odd atmosphere

The worst 80's style faux-exclusivity. You have to knock on the door and wait for someone to open the door from within. When people leave, they're told to close the door behind them so that people waiting to come in can't just come in. Four folks came out, shut the door behind them, said they were told to do that. Bad sign. They must've been from a place where people out barhopping do what they're told by people who aren't their mothers. When someone finally emerged, he took our names and phone numbers and advised us to go have a nice night because it might be a long time before enough people left for him to give us a call. Even though the same number of people had just exited. Maybe he knew we wouldn't shut the door behind us. We left. This is New York City -- there are lots of great cocktail bars, no reason to have FOMO about this one. Have some self respect, and don't bother.

Once you turn up, they take your name and number and add you to a waiting list...except they never bother to text you when there's space. Go to Blacktail in Battery Park instead - great cocktails, great ambience and at least they make the effort to get you in!

One of my favourite Speakeasy bars. Only small but this adds to it’s ambience and atmosphere. There are no menus. You tell the mixologists what flavours and drinks you like and they will make up your cocktail. Broke our one drink per bar visit whilst on holiday in NY and ended up ordering another. Definitely recommend.
