I went to visit this fantastic shop during my stay in NY. It is truely fantastic and worth a visit. Give yourself time, it is heaven -a mecca of fabric. The staff is so nice and helpful. I will come again next time i visit...More
Went to this shop after looking at their website as I was looking for possibly different lace and trims to take home to Australia. Walked for ages to get there two sullen faced guys sitting just inside the doorway - I asked where their laces...More
I came here because I watched Project Runway. I also wanted to see Swatch. He is so adorable and he even gave me a kiss. Big place so much fabric and accessories. Staff were very friendly and helped me to take pics with their famous...More
Mood has been on my bucket list for years, and the store did not disappoint! Even my 9-year-old granddaughter was slack-jawed at the vibrant array of fluff and fiber bursting from every inch of that Garment District real estate. Although I shopped for quite a...More
Being massive fans of Project Runway from the UK, imagine our delight when we walked through the door to find Swatch sprawled on the floor. Once you get over the awkwardness of going into what looks like an office to get to the lifts, the...More
I don't understand why they pile the bolts of fabric on top of each other. There are a bunch of surly-looking dudes hanging around who I suppose can be summoned to do the heavy lifting of extracting a bolt from the log pile for you...More
The selection here is a bit overwhelming in a good way. There are so many gorgeous fabrics & fun trims. I bought an off-white floral Valentino rayon to make a sundress with for $20/yard.
I would like it if they separated & labeled their selection...More
Mood actually is more than just a place they go to on TV. Great service. Very patient and persistent help who knew the inventory and kept trying until he found the color, print, and style that was just what I wanted for my own “project”....More

No clue as to square footage but it is crammed with everything. Huge selection for one store. Overwhelming but staff is unbelievable as to steering you to the correct section if you tell them what you want to create. You just need an idea, then buy a liberal amount of fabric. When you get exhausted visit with Swatch and play, if the dog is in that day! Home fabrics are next door on the ground level and there is a smart, up to date selection. There is another great place a few blocks away called Elegant. Very fine fabrics but staff is nice but you are more on your own. Fabric is sensational there.

They have one day workshops and classes that are taught by some Mood staff and industry professionals. They advertise classes on their social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram) closer to the start of a new month so I would suggest checking their website in late August/September to see what they are offering and when. Go to their main website and then click on Mood U to find the site for their classes. Good luck!
I've changed things around since my last post. I'm traveling alone in May and my main goals are shopping and photography. I've got some of the touristy things down but I'm saving others for when I return with my husband in the future. I plan on conquering the subway to get around but I want to have a pretty clear plan of attack so that I don't end up just wandering aimlessly. Does it sound doable to you. Monday: arrive late morning. Find my room in Chelsea Head out to explore the...More

Sounds pretty well planned. You shouldn't get bored anyway. I like Pearl River Mart also- they have great tea there too. Have fun!

Does anyone know the location of the Mood Fabrics the show shops at? There are multiple locations for this store listed. Thanks
