We went to finally see Harry Potter after not being able to see it during Covid. We enjoyed it greatly— the special effects were very cool and the play was well acted and well done.
We were seated in dress circle row C 10-16. These were good seats. You could easily see the entire stage. The seats were a bit small but comfortable.
To get into the theater, they quickly form 2 queues for vaccine card checks. They were very efficient with this and with security.
Our only hiccup is that they offer in seat ordering at intermission. This is a long play (both parts compressed to one show now) and we were quite thirsty by intermission. We ordered, the order went through but no drinks ever came. The line at the concession stand was far too long to get through (many people - most people) seemed to have to go without.
I definitely recommend going but I recommend you get to the show early enough to get your snacks and extra drinks before it starts. Don’t count on in seat ordering. The theater did refund us for the drinks (which weren’t cheap) after the show. But it would have been better to have the refreshments.

Harry Potter and the cursed child...
This has always been on my bucket list for a while now. With pandemic shutting down broadway for more than a year, this was the most awaited broadway experience I wanted to go to...
Being a huge Potterhead I was crazy to go watch it.
It was indeed a magical experience, with some dazzling performances, awesome special effects, smooth transitions! I would particularly like to call out the dementors and poly juice potion effects( when Albus, Scorpius, and Delphi transform into Ron, Harry, and Hermione).
The first few scenes felt a little hurried probably because of the compressed schedule. (Pre-pandemic it was a 2 part show with a run time of over 5 hours). Now it's 3.5 hours with an interval.
Reading the book before watching this show is highly recommended.
Character-wise Albus and Scorpius won our hearts. We also loved moaning myrtle. Dumbledore’s portrait was very well displayed. The entire cast did a commendable job.
This show is in lyric theatre, right at the time square (Hard rock cafe street). It's very well renovated and clean. From the carpet to decor it very well represents Harry Potter.
I did not face any issue from beginning to end and assistants are there to help you in every way. While exiting from the right side, there is a gift shop as well.
I did not book tickets from any website, I purchased them from the theatre's box office 2 months in advance. In this way, I got a wanted seat at a reasonable price. $198 for Dress Circle Row E, 2 Seats 116 &117- no additional tax, nothing. Flat $198 for 2 seats

This theater is absolutely stunning across the board. We are from the Midwest and we took the train into the city to see the Cursed Child. We were running a little late, but our usher Asia was so kind and helpful. She waited with us until we could move to our seats in between scenes but made sure that we could both still see what we were missing. After act one, she even offered to move us to some empty seats that were much closer to the stage. The experience was unmatched at any other theater show we have seen in the past 5 years that we have been going and I cannot wait to go again!

We visited the Lyric Theatre to watch Harry Potter & the Cursed Child in February. Getting into the venue was very easy and straightforward. However, it became apparently clear that it was definitely a money grabbing enterprise! I had received an email stating we needed to arrive an hour early due to covid checks etc, these took minutes! This then meant that we were inside the theatre foyer for an hour loitering where there are multiple purchasing options such as drinks, snacks in Harry Potter containers and Harry Potter merchandise. Also doesn’t seem very covid safe to try to squish everyone into the foyer, would have much rather been able to go straight to my seat. Inside the theatre is beautifully decorated and sets the scene well but really I just felt like they were trying to squeeze money from me at every opportunity in comparison to the Eugene O’Neill theatre which doesn’t currently have a bar service and you can go straight to your seat! It cost me $20.30 for a water and beer which for a theatre I didn’t think was too bad.
As for the show… It was the worst show I have ever experienced in my life (and I’ve suffered through the green day America idiot musical!) and I felt like it was never going to end! My husband fell asleep during it and I just wanted to leave. The acting, the accents and the story line are all horrendous. I had such high expectations of it as it is the Harry Potter brand and I Love Harry Potter but this was just awful. The only thing that was good about the show was the special effects. Also I’ve never seen a professional (where tickets are quite expensive) show where I can hear the stage creaking as the cast walk! It very much reminded me of seeing a primary school nativity production. The music wasn’t even reminiscent of Harry Potter either. Personally I’d give it a miss. I was that traumatised by the experience I ended up back at The Book of Mormon the following evening!
Oh also the seats were quite roomy.

This was a surprise trip for my daughter, who is an avid Harry Potter fan (and I like him too!) An added bonus - we love NYC!! This was the first time that we've been to this theater. I have been to a couple of broadway shows, but not at this theatre. It was a great experience. The theatre was well taken care of, it had fabulous photo opportunities (all relating to Harry), the seats were comfortable and plenty of leg room.
During intermission, it was crowded, however the staff kept the line moving and you didn't have to wait long. We were able to get our snacks/souvenirs and use the rest room all before the show started up again. The staff were polite and made our experience extremely enjoyable and a lifetime memory!
We'd love to go back to this theatre again!

This is a fabulous show for Potter fans. Superbly orchestrated. My 12 year old enjoyed both parts in one day. We had row E seats but the theatre is not that large you could almost anywhere and get a good view

The Lyric is BEAUTIFUL! I sat in the center - third to the last row - and it was a great vantage point. Bathrooms were clean, spacious, and wonderful. Also - there was a QR code on the armrest to have food delivered to your seat. Cool feature!

My son and I totally enjoyed going to Harry Potter and the Cursed Son. The performance was magical. The special effects were spectacular. It was a pure joy to get to watch Part 1 and then Part 2 in the same day. I highly recommend attending these two if you can get them your schedule.

This is my first time writing a review and I want to say, that is due the fact that it is not easy to upset me. I have served United States military and I am used to difficult situations and difficult people, however this experience by far has deeply upset me. My fiancé and I travel to New York to see this play and purchased tickets for row Y seats 1 and 3.
This was absolutely horrible seats, seat 1 you were able to see most of the stage however you did have a large beam to your left. Seat 3 was completely obstructed by a large support beam and you were unable to see the left portion of the stage.
The view was so bad that we decided not to stay for part two and my fiancé was extremely upset. The couple in the corresponding seats also left because of the view. I tried to call them to ask for a refund of the tickets and for them to properly labeled the seats as being an obstructed view, I was told that there is no obstructed view seats in the house and there was nothing they could do to help correct the situation.
I’m deeply saddened by this because I understand that is important for a business to make money however at the cost of the individuals attending the show, miss labeling of tickets, and horrible customer service does not seem right to me. We personally will never attend another show at this theater due to this horrible experience.

My husband and I went to the Lyric Theater to see the Harry Potter play this week. We were eaten alive by bedbugs as soon as the lights went down. We could feel them biting during the performance. At first I thought they were mosquitoes...in March, but we kept being bitten, even after I put my jacket over myself like a blanket. When we left the theater, my husband found a bedbug on his bag! We called management immediately, and they denied our claims. They continue to seat people in the infested seats.

I don't think they'll mind, but just you couldn't eat them during the performance.
Hi! If our show is at 7:00 pm, what time should we arrive?

Is there a dress code for the lyric theater in NYC? Our seats are in the “Dress Circle”

Not really. We saw people dressed up in Hogwarts costumes, people in jeans and Harry Potter t-shirts, casual dress, business casual, and some people were dressy. It really ran the gamut.
Do they allow 14 year olds to enter the theatre without adult accompaniment??
Do you really enforce the 15 year old parent accompaniment rule do Harry Potter and The Cursed Child

I don't know. The evening I was there, there was a very drunk woman seated behind us, who talked back to the cast during the show - the ushers and staff were excellent and asked her to leave, however, should there be an incident - how would the 15-year old handle it? All sorts of things can happen, and some 15-year olds are better at coping than others.

We have balcony tickets, bought months ago, but my husband broke his leg and is on crutches. The show is sold out, so we can't upgrade him to a lower level with elevator. How bad are the steps up to the balcony, since he'd have to hop up there.

The other response was correct about the staircase and concessions. The seats are a little narrow, but if he can make it up the stairs, the seat might be a relief! Have tried calling the theatre directly and ask about special assistance? I can only assume things like this have been an issue in the past that they might have a resolution for. After all, we are talking about NYC!

I am looking for a place near the theater to store my suitcase for a couple of hours. Anyone know of the best option within just a few mins of the theater?

I've usually been in a hotel, so if the show is either before or after check in, I store my suitcase with them. I wonder whether any of the stations, Penn Station or Grand Central have places where you can store your luggage? In these days with heightened security, my guess would be possibly not?

I really want to take my 9 and 11 year old Harry Potter fanatics, but I'm afraid that they won't be able to see. We are looking at DRESSC row J. Are we going to have issues?

I was there recently in one of the dress circle sections, right in the center and the view was great. For children, they have a cushion that goes on the seat to boost up smaller kids though I didn’t bring my children and didn’t notice any under about 8. The seats are offset from the row in front of you as well as being one step higher. I loved the view but hated being stuck in the middle of a 30+ seat row, I’d rather be at the end.
