Neighborhood: Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleased with the variety and quality of the vendors. We picked up some really nice art work of local scenes throughout New York, some beautiful earrings and a nice charm. This is tacked on to the “back” of Chelsea Market. Worth a visit!

My wife and I went looking for some artist shows and/flea markets during our short weekend in NYC. We found this location on a blog and decided to give it a try.

Not having been to Chelsea Market before, we were pleasantly surprise to find this located on the ground floor of the Market as the blog did not mention this in its description. The place was packed and the aisles are narrow, so I had to get over a little bit of claustrophobia.

Other than that, this was a great shopping experience. The vendors were friendly, talkative, and glad to answer any questions we had. We ended up spending more than we expected, but that's a good thing when supporting local artists and businesses.

There's no food in Artists & Fleas, but since you're at Chelsea Market, there was no shortage of places to eat. One of the artists told us about another arts show which takes place at the market once a month, ID Pop Shop, and we spent more time looking at (and buying) those unique creations.

Overall, a great shopping experience for those looking for unique clothing, jewelry, and gifts.

Please spend a a few hours wondering around Artist and Fleas, and the rest of the chelsea market! You will find all sorts of momento's to take home (far better than the normal I HEART NY tshirts in times square!)

If you are looking to buy products from China, this is the place to go. I have purchased 2 rings from a brand called NUR located in Artists and Fleas in Chelsea Market, later to find out it was bought from Chinese mass manufacturing site Alibaba. Thinking the management would take action to such wrong doing; I reached out to them. To my surprise, they just shut me down saying "they are just classic designs and they washed themselves of the situation by simply saying I can take this up with the vendor. Essentially assuming no responsibility for the vendors they are supposed to vet to ensure quality. " I attached the images, you be the judge. This is such a scam. You think you are supporting artists and designers and actually supporting Chinese mass manufacturing companies and amazon drop shipping schemes.

Thought it would be cheesy, but pleasantly surprised. Actually bought some stuff for gifts. Fun to interact with artists and makers of products. Not imports, nice stuff.

Chelsea Market has something for everyone. Great shopping from artisans selling jewellery, handmade glass frames, and crafts. There is great food for all tastes. We ate at Miznon meditteranean street food. We had by far the best burger we've ever eaten! It was pure beef in a homemade pita. Absolutely delicious. You must try this. We also had an order of green beans and roasted cauliflower which was also delicious.

Be prepared for it to be kind of a Nyc hipster flea market to the max. It's very small and intimate, and almost everything is expensive, but what isn't in Nyc? All the merchandise is unique, from clothing to jewelry to sunglasses and men's ties, there's a little something for everyone in there. You can even choose beads to make your own jewelry and there was an incredible artist who makes crystal jewelry that I badly wanted, but couldn't afford. I ended up losing my mind over a pair of amazing sunglasses at VU Frameworks. If you're looking for a awesome new pair, there's nowhere better in the city to look. The selection at Lord and Taylor didn't even come close to how cool theirs were.
