The League of Kitchens is a culinary dream-team of women from around the world who are excited to teach you their family recipes! Traditionally classes are held in the homes of our instructors, but we're currently operating online! Our online classes are special, meaningful opportunities to share cooking, culture, and connection--just like our real life experiences. Workshops are interactive and participatory and offer opportunities for connection, cultural engagement and exchange, culinary learning and discovery, and exceptional recipe instruction. Through this experience, the League of Kitchens seeks to build cross-cultural connection and understanding, to increase access to traditional cooking knowledge, and to provide meaningful, well-paid employment and training for immigrants. The League of Kitchens has been featured in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and The Chew, among others.

The Argentina immersion cooking class was easy to get to in Mirta's home in Queens, NYC and an absolute delight to participate in!

Mirta, the instructor, was kind and clearly passionate about her culture and cuisine.

She started by telling us about her country and her upbringing, sharing photos and artifacts as she told stories. Then, Mirta taught us how to drink yerba mate as we snacked on the beautiful spread she had prepared before our arrival.

After we were fed and happy, we started cooking dinner together. It was a small group of 6, which was a perfect size, as we all played a role in preparing the delicious dinner we ended up eating over lively conversation.

10/10 would recommend — it's a great thing to do with a partner, a friend, or even solo, as you definitely develop a camaraderie with the others in the class!

We spent a wonderful Sunday evening learning some delicious Persian dishes with Mab in an online cooking class.

Mab was absolutely amazing, and my favorite thing was hearing her stories as she cooked - it was so incredible learning about her history and childhood. Highlights for me would be when we were slicing the dill, and she was talking about the music of the sound of chopping coupled with the smell of the dill, and how in her culture the grandmothers do the chopping. I closed my eyes (my husband was chopping, not me!), breathed in the delicious smells, and I was transported into her stories. It was so beautiful. I also loved how she spoke about prayers for family during the cooking of rice, such a beautiful way to bring family into cooking, even if just through the mind.

Justine was our online class supporter as was fantastic as well - we are a large, loud family spread across the globe and she made sure all of our questions got answered and was a great part of the group. We were spread across time zones from London to California, so we really appreciated how you all accommodated that with a time that worked for everyone. I've already mentioned the class to several friends who are interested, thank you for a wonderful online cooking class experience!

Very special experience with Yamini in Queens last weekend. My friends and I felt like part of her family for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon over dal, sambhariya, roti, and lots of ghee. Yamini's cooking class was comprehensive without being too lecture-like. The League of Nations business model provides a much more intimate experience than other NYC cooking classes -- I would highly recommend for a special outing.

Definitely bring containers for leftovers! There were lots.

My girlfriend and I are avid home-cooks and foodies always looking for something exciting to do for our special occasions. Aiko and her husband Joe were amazing hosts with great stories and knowledge to match their cooking! The class was a great mix of hands-on work, education, as well as getting to know everyone you’re in the class with. In fact our group had such a good time we all went to a bar afterwards for drinks! Be sure to bring plenty of Tupperware to take home leftovers too!

We totally intend on coming back for her second class in the future.

This online cooking class was delightful! Mirta was fantastic and the food was delicious. I loved that she was able to check on things (like the size of our potatoes and the texture of our dough) via the camera and that we all got to sit down and virtually share a meal at the end of the class. I also loved listening to Mirta's stories and explanations of techniques. Thank you!!!

My husband and I received a gift from my son & family; they know we don't need anything at this stage and prefer experiences . We had a hard time selecting the regional cuisine as there were so many choices. We ended up taking a Persian cooking class with Mab and loved it. There were people in the class from all over the country (a mother in one state joined by two daughters from other states). What a great gift idea and way to different foods . We will definitely do this again.

I fully enjoyed the whole prepping and cooking process via zoom with Aiko and my colleagues.

We did a team building session with my team who work remotely across the globe.

It was a real treat learning how to cook a certain japanese dish and eating it together.

Aiko was great in leading the class and showcasing a delicious japanese meal!

It's wonderful to participate in a on-line cooking class where the instructor could give you feedback in real time. Unlike cooking from a recipe or a video, LOK on-line classes allow you to interact not only with the instructor but the other classmates as well. The camaraderie amongst all added to the overall experience.; Our meal was scrumptious. I would certainly recommend LOK!

I have taken 4 classes, 2 with Mirta - Argentina , Nawida - Afghan and Persian with Mab. I plan on taking others soon. The instructors were talented, friendly and welcoming! The class moderators are very helpful with info and tech things, so no need to be afraid of zoom etc. I was able to take a class and invite 4 of my friends from different areas to take the class together which was wonderful! You can easily be a beginner cook in these classes as the instructors all had a lot of patience. A wonderful experience!

The League of Kitchens online cooking class was fabulous. My wife and I participated in the Mexican Class. There were two other couples participating. The instructor, technology, and administrative participants were all great. The shopping list was easy to follow, and we had such a good time making fresh tortilla shells, fillings, salsa and more.
I would recommend this class and this online company to all!
