This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. I signed up for tickets on 1iota but was not successful so I decided to try my luck with the standby line. I arrived around 8:25, but wish I’d arrived earlier. They hand out numbered tickets at 9:00. Be sure to have your ID with you! I returned at 3:30 as instructed on the standby ticket. You line up in the NBC store according to the numbers on your ticket. That day only 28 people from the standby line were let in. As I was closer to the back of that line, we weren’t sure until the last minute whether we’d get in or not so it’s a lot of standing/waiting, but in the end we made it into the show and it was an awesome experience. The guests were great and it was neat to see how they run everything. While the band was setting up, Jimmy comes into the audience to take questions. Overall it was a great experience. If you want to better your chances in the standby line, arrive early! Also, keep in mind that they are serious when they tell you not to bring backpacks/large bags so be sure to leave those behind if you don’t want to be disappointed.

The taping is scheduled fora 5pm start and we were told to arrive not a minute later than 3:30 or else our tickets would be given away. So we arrived at 3:10pm to be safe. Next thing I knew, within 20 minutes of entering and being asked to show our ID's, vax cards and tickets for what seemed like 25 times, we were sitting in the waiting area which ended up lasting longer than the ENTIRE taping. Around 4:30pm, after an hour of sitting, they finally started having us line up which then lasted an *additional* half an hour. Standing. Waiting. What's the hold up I wondered. Several times they explained how they were doing additional "sound checks". Didn't they have the last couple of hours to do that? The show finally started around *5:20pm*

Next up was the thing that upset me the most. On their website it clearly stated that once seated in the studio you could remove your mask which I was very happy about, however during an announcement they said masks "must remain on the ENTIRE time" in the studio. Mind you this is a 100% fully vaccinated crowd. I told the woman how on the website it says otherwise but she said bc of the Delta variant rules changed and everyone in the studio must have one on. Ok #1 thanks for updating your website, and 2, I guess it's ok for Jimmy Fallon, his guests, the Roots and the cringeworthy opening comic who even came up into the audience to not be masked in the studio though. Got it. Typical do as I say not as I do. What else is new when it comes to pandemic protocols. Yet football stadiums of 60-70k packed in are selling out every Sunday with no mask mandates. Makes sense.

Finally, the musical guest never appeared on the show. Jimmy introduced them and then said goodnight and we were told to applaud. Most of the show seemed very "staged" for us with segments clearly shot out of order, reshoots of Jimmy doing introductions, forcing us to continue to applaud each time, etc. I like Jimmy a lot and yes these are free tickets and yes I know most of this is all about the NBC airing later that night, but it seems the crew needs to really put things together a bit better and make the experience more pleasing for the audience, especially after the process we went through before finally getting into our seats. But generally speaking from my experience unless you get lucky and there is a special guest you really truly want to see, this is an overrated hassle that I would not recommend.

I had applied for tickets just as they were released but wasn’t able to get them so instead we joined the queue for standby tickets on a Friday morning. At 7am we were 7th & 8th in line. We were standing for 3 hours before the nbc store opened and they issued our tickets. We needed photo ID & proof of vaccinations. We returned at 3pm and joined another line of more than 80people all with standby tickets! They held us in a cramped space, standing up for around 90mins before selecting the first 28 of us to go thru. Sadly, one of our party who was 11th in line went to the bathroom and on her return she was told she had missed the cut. This woman was disabled and so it was particularly uncomfortable to witness. The show was fantastic, Jimmy was brilliant and it was a true highlight of our weekend on NYC. We also had great fun with the lovely people we got chatting to in the queue. I would not recommend the standby ticket process for anyone that might have difficulty standing for several hours or would struggle with doing this in an enclosed space in close proximity to others.

We were told we would be the audience for a “special musical performance” and that everyone would be on TV — an outright lie. The musical guest was the Killers, who performed 2 songs. FOR THE ENTIRE HOUR. We couldn’t even see them from where we were, because we had been positioned on a lower terrace near “the top of the rock” and were basically there as sound filler. There was a small monitor at the front of the crowd that only the first 30 people could see, and Jimmy Fallon did not even acknowledge the 100+ people on our part of the terrace. Watch the show from home. Your time is worth more!

Very organized process. You line up, they give you a wrist band and a ticket with either a letter or number on the back. Then they lead you to the Peacock Lounge where you wait until you are lead to the studio. While you are in the Peacock Lounge, you have time to use the restroom, which they encourage because once in the studio, you are unable to go unless you do not want back in.
Before being led into the studio, the letter or number on the back of your ticket, lets you know the order of entry. They called the alphabet first, in order, then the double alphabet, then white tickets (not sure of the difference between the yellow tickets and the white tickets), then lastly they call the tickets with the numbers on the back.
Once you are called, they remind you that your phones have to be powered down, then you take an elevator up to floor 7. You are led to your seat, then once everyone is in, they close the doors and you wait until they start.

We loved the show itself and got tickets the first time via Iquota. We tried getting in via standby tickets another time, but weren’t successful. We got there at 6.15am and were 17th and 18th in line for the standby tickets. Be aware you are not allowed to sit down in the line and they start giving out the tickets at 10am. The show we tried to get into was the last one before Christmas, which was probably why it was super busy. But only 14 people got in and we unfortunately had to go home. The first four people in the line got there at 3am, just to give you an idea.

We got (free!) stand-by tickets in the morning at the NBC shop at the Rockefeller Center. Bring all the attendees and your ID's, since you can only collect a ticket for yourself. This is no guarantee that youŕe able to attend the show. When you return at 3 pm you hear if there are seats available (due to no-shows). Everything is well organized, including security and waiting at the Peacock Lounge.
The show itself is very entertaining and takes approximately one hour.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was amazing. I will say that to make sure you get your tickets in advance. If not, you will be put in the waiting side of the room and the chances of you getting in are hard. Once you get there, you will wait until they start accepting people and their tickets. Once you go through security, you will be assigned a side of the waiting room. The VIPs (I would assume guest of people who work on the show) go to the right and all others go to the left. Those on the waiting list go to the left back of the room. The seating process is done by their formula and you'll be assigned as they see fit. The show itself was fun, we did not have a good guest (well known), but overall it was pretty fun!

I got my ticket the day they were available online. I was solo so maybe that helped. It is very fun to see how the process works and how Jimmy, The Roots and Higgins do the show. But be prepared - it's an entire afternoon and evening. You get in line at 3 (I suggest 2:30) and walk out after 6:15. I highly recommend trying to get tickets if you are a fan of Jimmy.

I got a standby ticket! I got in line at 6:50 AM, and was 20th in line. They ended up letting 25 people in but there was around 50 in line. It’s the same line for Kelly Clarkson, Seth Meyers & Fallon which they separate when the store opens but the majority were there for Fallon.

After I got my ticket for Fallon (#20) I got a ticket for Kelly Clarkson’s morning show (figured I would be waiting around anyway) and was #11. I was the last person they let in for Kelly Clarkson!

Fun experience! I would recommend getting in line early! Be prepared to wait around a lot.
