Neighborhood: West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.

Lovely Hotel
Sep 2019
Would recommend this hotel if staying in New York. in a lovely area with lots of nice bars and restaurants.
Beds lovely and comfortable and rooms a nice size. They had a lovely heated roof top pool and bar , the bar was expensive for drinks, the view was amazing day and night, so worth a trip up. On arrival we had nice complimentary tray of fruit and some chocolates which was lovely...staff were nice and friendly.. would stay again when we return...which we will.. as our son-in law is from Queens...Look forward to seeing you in not to distant future

So accommodating and gracious
May 2019 • Family
Daughter graduated from Grace Church HS - booked rooms for the grandparents and my family. Malik, Gustov and Jennifer made the stay in Chelsea pleasurable - they went above and beyond and left a favorable impression of Hotel G with my parents. Will be back soon! Thank you!

New Manager/Great Experience!!
Jan 2019 • Friends
I read some of the reviews prior to January of 2019 which were negative. The new manager, Carol Castillo, began running the Gansevoort Spa after this time. My flight from Florida to Africa suffered a 24 hour delay in NJ so I decided to try to spend time with some of my family who weren't too far from the NJ airport. We stayed at the Gansevoort. There were two in my party who enjoyed massages, pedicures, manicures, and facials. Carol and her staff were able to make us feel so relaxed and pampered. When I return to NYC, I plan to find Carol Castillo so that I can be sure to enjoy my spa experience. When we left her spa, we continued to feel the relaxing benefits for many days. Carol's sweet and relaxing attitude is woven throughout the spa, which is transferred to the client. If you can find Carol Castillo (C-Spa) you will be tremendously blessed!

Stand out in NYC, cool rooftop
Mar 2018 • Couples
Great part of new York, opposite some fantastic bars is this hotel. Vibrant, cool, great rooms and a great location for emmersing yourself into the city.

Incredible rooftop bar, don't queue to get in. Pool up there too, very well done. Didn't eat at the hotel but everyone had time for you and didn't rush, great staff.

Definitely will head back...

My wedding gift was a terrible experience in this spa
Jan 2018 • Couples
As a wedding gift, I received a gift certificate to attend the spa with my wife. The day we attended for a massage, my wife and I were greeted with the most inattentive, disgraceful and rude manner.

I never imagined that in a place like this, to which people are coming to relax, I would be so stressed. The service and attention were beyond rude, it was disrespectful. The hostess or person who is supposed to greet you and help you actually screamed at me because I was confused about the process; it was my first time in a spa.

I only hope that the service was so terrible because the staff did not like that we had a gift certificate, and that they don't treat everyone like this. It was shocking. I am a guy that had the first and last massage because of this place.

Honestly, try some other place. New York City must have a better place within a five minute walk.

Beautiful and interesting Hotel
Dec 2017 • Couples
This hotel is in an unexpected location but you soon find out that it is a truly good one: close to the 14th Street subway and not too much traffic! Also the new Whitney Museum is close and so is the High Line Park The hotel interior is stylish in a cool way. The room was great with a King size bed: very comfortable! There are excellent restaurants in the area. Highly recommended!

A Luxury Hotel Worth The Designation
Dec 2017 • Couples
The Gansevoort Hotel is a luxury hotel in Manhattan’s Uber-Trendy Meat Packing District. I managed to snaggle a 30% discount when I made my reservation since it would otherwise have been outside my budget range. It sports a sleek, modern décor from top to bottom. The rooms are generously sized with a very large bathroom complete with bathtub. Our room had a small sofa which was a nice touch and a well stocked fridge and mini-bar. The Gansevoort at the end of Ninth Avenue, is only two blocks from the New York MTA (A,C & E Lines) so getting around was a cinch. Shops, restaurants and the Chelsea Market are all within easy walking distance. If you are looking for a luxury hotel away from the traffic, noise and bustle of Midtown, you won’t do better than the Gansevoort.

Horrible
Oct 2017 • Business
Of course when you check in a hotel you have to wait the first night to understand the hotel politic,
It is at 6:30 in the morning I understood my room was at 10 m from a very noisy construction area.
Of course they did not tell me.
I m gonna try to change my room.
I ll let you know.
But a very bad beginning.
There is a kind of plastic protection for the matelas which I hate because very noisy.
Well I don t recommend this hôtel at all.

Home away from home
Mar 2017 • Couples
As a frequent visitor to New York, my wife and I have always felt the creature comforts of home at the Hotel Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District. The staff are always courteous and conscientious to your every need. The Hotel manager, Jean Francois is always on top of his game as are his team who are there to greet you. On any given day, you will be greeted by the infectious smile of Malick, Klowson, Micheal, Idi, John, Burum, and Assistant Managers Eric and Paul Li. I know them all and they will treat you like family when you visit too!
