Neighborhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

We enjoyed our visit but feel like we only need to go once. It is a great place for a date. Inside it is dark and candlelit. We needed to use our phone flashlights to read the menu. Our waiter was lovely and helped us make a decision on which champagne to try. We were given the opportunity to try something before committing. All the choices were explained and there was no pressure to buy more expensive items. Our receipt says “cashier: Yusuf” but I am not sure if that is also our waiter’s name. Whoever he was… he was great. The bar is small so I my suggestion would be to definitely call ahead for a table and inquire if there are private parties booked. When we visited Flute there were several private parties and only a few tables for others. I had hoped to sit at the bar but I don’t think that is an option. Also, due to the private parties we were told the kitchen was too busy with them to make our appetizers. So…no food for us. Also, I am a bit of a glassware snob and would have liked higher end glassware, esp. at some of the prices per glass. The glasses used were the ho hum type you can buy in bulk at a home goods store or you'd fine at a dive bar. Maybe that's just me.

The establishment calls itself a speakeasy and maybe at one time it actually was, but it sure doesn't look like my take on a speakeasy. It was, of course, extremely dark. Cushy seats. Low tables. Dark corners and nooks to sit in. Staff was very welcoming as the place was practically empty. Their drink list was okay but missing some classic 1920s-style drinks. It seems like they are champagne and sparkling wine heavy which makes sense with a name like "Flute". They were not able to pour a Grey Goose vodka with ice without it tasting like something else (nasty). Not sure if they were trying to pass some lesser brand of vodka off as Goose or what, but it took them several tries to get the drink to actually taste like Grey Goose. And, of course, you're in NYC, so the drink prices are in the mid $20s per glass and up.

Very good vibe. Service was a bit lacking with little information and little attention being paid to the guests. But if you are looking for a romantic place to have a drink and imagine yourself in the 1920s ... this could be your space. Just don't expect a second round of drinks, or to order food....

It looks like you enter a place run by a madam with the dim red lights and cosy corners but it's great. Our waiter was fairly new ut made up his lack of expertise by his really touching willingness to make sure your experience was good. The champagne selection is great. The bites are copious so no need for dinner afterwards. The only drawback is that the excellent mix of music , French usa, hiphop soul etc are only covers sung by some obscure groups and not the originals . But we'll be back

Walking back to our hotel we came across this inconspicuous bar just off the main 7th avenue drag. Heard the music and thought why not. Great thought, as it turned out. Fantastic relaxing way to end our evening. A few cocktails from an extensive list were enjoyed. We could have stayed longer (we should have gone earlier!)…..won’t make that mistake again when we come back to NYC. Highly recommended for that nice quiet, intimate time you look for away from the hustle.

Cute little speakeasy-type bar with interesting (and rather expensive..) drinks. The service was friendly and good - got our tabs to the table and all. They told us they offer cocktail classes and such that are great for date nights (we might have to check that out). Drinks were good but not exceptional. The interior is really interesting and worth taking a look at!

Intimate, fun and refined lounge / Champagne speakeasy. Great time and location (heart of Manhattan, Broadway, Carnegie Hall, Central Park, ..)
Unique and cool! Enjoy many times

We went to Flute Bar before going to Nobu for dinner. We each had a flight of champagne. Our server was very well versed in the flights and gave us some valuable information. The place was downstairs from the street, kind of dark and mysterious! It really did remind me of the Speakeasy that it is. I would strongly recommend checking it out! The fruit/cheese plate was great as our appetizer prior to going to dinner.

Wanted to book a romantic spot for a proposal and was not dissapointed! Had contact with Flüte via the websites' contact form to explain the situation and got a reaction really quick. They sent me a floorplan and gave me a tip for the best seats.
Asked them to have a bottle of preffered champagne ready and this was no problem.
At arrival we were seated by a really nice lady from the staff and she brought the champagne instantly. After I popped the big question we got complementary delicious strawberries and chocolate. After the champagne we ordered some great and tasty mojito's.
All in all, a great place, nice staff and a very romantic location.
Will definitely be back!

A very friendly place. I went on a Wednesday, there was a nice jazz concert. I love the place and I will certainly visit it again.
