We decided to go to an underground old style jazz club. And we nailed it! Maybe not so underground anymore. It opened 19:30, we arrived 19:45, and already crowded. On Monday. 20 dollars to enter and everybody has to order at least 1 drink. Great draft beer. But slow delivery at the bar.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this jazz club! They have the best musicians around the city. Everytime I go to the city it is a MUST that I visit Smalls. The bartender - she is awesome and the location is great as well -- you can always get a taxi and Uber drivers know exactly where it is :-) Smalls never... More

Small, intimate venue. There was a $20 cover charge, but no drink minimum, and shockingly, beers were well priced. And the jazz was excellent. In Greenwich Village.

Small venue, around $20 to enter, bar is very small, with a limited choice of drinks. The jazz is good.

House in the heart of greenwicht village, with a Super intimist vibe, where you get in tune with the musicians! The Club is small and does not accept reservations, there is no food, only drinks with an honest price! Pure jazz! Highly recommend !!

The jazz is raw at this West Village music institution and the beer flows with a young crowd. It has a great energy and we enjoyed coming from the mellow Mezzrow to hear Frank Lacy and his ensemble lay down some upbeat arrangements.

If you are for real jazz - this is the place. There is no food, just drinks. The ticket at Smalls (we paid $20 on a week day) allows you to visit Mezzrow Jazz Club as well, just across the street. A little bit different vibe, music is also great, - a smaller place, more intimate atmosphere. There is some... More

A nice place with a speakeasy attitude. Seams very original and not as touristic as other jazz clubs, not so fancy but gives every visitor a great experience. It is important to visit the place at least half an hour earlier, because SMALL'S does not take any reservations, so you have to count on your early arriving on the line,... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
