I can't overstate what an incredible time I had at this place during my week-long vacation in NYC over New Year's. If you're an open-minded person who values deep, quirky conversation with highly interesting people, Double Down is where you need to be. Dripping with personality, it's a venue that definitely attracts a certain type of crowd, so the prudish would do best to avoid it (check what's playing on the TVs when you walk in). I'd like to give a special mention to bartender Bobbi-Jean, who, in addition to providing stellar service, fully embodies the spirit of the establishment and is one of the kindest, funniest conversationalists I met in the city. Day in and day out, she truly delivered me a seamless experience as a patron, and even became a friend. Oh, and CHEAP DRINKS! Beer & Shot specials, an extra long happy hour etc. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in New York!

Ordered 2 beers. The bar maid demanded a 2 dollar tip saying 1 dollar was not enough. She pretty much bullied us into giving it her. She became quite confrontational about it. I don't mind tipping but I prefer to do it out of choice for good service. Whilst we were sat drinking, she did the same thing to someone else. The person didn't want to tip and received a lot of abuse from the bar maid. I would avoid this place at all costs. Beers were not particularly cheap, service was awful and rude.

If you’re looking for a punky rock venue with an authentic vinyl-only juke box, funky art on the walls, and a fun, friendly atmosphere, this is the place to go. It’s off the beaten track for most tourists but personally I enjoy visiting places that are aimed more at local clientele. Not for the squeamish / prudish – with writing and pictures on the wall that are decidedly not PC and often downright explicit! The bar’s house shot (Trip Advisor won't let me write the name of it!!) which is made to a secret recipe, is sweet and delicious, well worth a try.

As all the big cities at the mo are being gentrified to the max thankfully some places never change and this is one. Authentic punk rock dive bar / pub , if that's your style then this is it. Includes pool table , and killer punk rock juke box , as a fan of Rock n roll and its history , personally I Iove it here . Open late in a good area for night life . The sister bar is in Vegas and that one is brilliant too , the Vegas one bit more personable as its the alternative to the strip.
