Cosy

Cosy little boozer, friendly staff and quick service.
Decorated in a railway theme, although we didn’t eat here the food looked very appetising.

Very Disappointing
Mar 2019 • Couples
Stopped in for nightcap and service was terrible! No seating at bar so bar maid said we should take a table and someone would be with us soon. Waited 15 minutes no service. Went to bar to order drinks and bar maid told me no as we were at a table. She said someone would be with us soon. Ten minutes goes by and finally some one showed up. After two drinks the check is requested. The wrong check was brought to the table twice. Actually had to the bar to get the correct check. Really bad service!
That being said, this is a nice Irish Pub and worth stopping in for a drink or two providing you can get service. This pub is attached to the Fitzpatrick Hotel @ Grand Central.
Give it a try hopefully you won't be disappointed.

Irish pub joined at the hip to Fitzpatrick's hotel opposite 44th St side of Grand Central station. We went on recommendation from a friend who assured us we'd be able to watch a Manchester United Premier League football match. Called in early to check and they were indeed showing the game. Inside it's your typical wood and artefact laden NYC Irish bar, transport themed from back in the day. Very compact but we still found a good table for the 3pm NY kick off time and ordered lunch at half time. All three meals deemed very tasty, both our servers were every helpful and pleasant. Only United failed to deliver in a 2-2 draw with Burnley. By the final whistle, the place had fairly filled up with office workers and seemed a popular rendezvous. Worth a visit.

After work drinks

A typical Irish pub, loud and crowded. Pricey drinks and food. Great nachos. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

We came as we knew they were showing the England game as my boyfriend wanted to watch it while eating Brekfast. The staff were great. Very tentative. Our waiter talked to my boyfriend about the game while it was on and was talking about his team. We finished our meal which was delicious and then sat on the sofa to finish watching the rest of the game.

A few hours later we were hungry again! I really did like the place which is why I still give it 4 stars but I'd probably only go to watch the football on the TV or to have a drink. When in New York you need a good filling Brekfast to start your long day and we didn't get that unfortunately. It was one of the best breakfasts we had though.

Irish fare and more

Surprisingly good food for a 'pub'. There are standard American options, and several typical Irish ones too. Irish benedict for breakfast - delicious. Irish bacon is more like American ham. I also ate lunch there, as we were guests of The Fitzpatrick hotel, of which this restaurant is a part. Was tempted by the Shephard's pie, but opted for a less-heavy roasted chicken club. Really fresh and tasty. Prices are average. Service was good.

Great Pub, Great Atmosphere, Great Staff
Feb 2018 • Couples
My wife and I stayed at the adjoining Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotel so this was our ‘Local’ for the duration of our stay in New York. This is a small, busy pub especially late afternoon and early evenings for ‘afterwork drinks’. It is also local to Grand Central Station for people wanting a quick drink or bite to eat before their commute. The staff are great, very friendly and attentive. We must give a special mention to Leah who always took the time too speak to us and to see how our day had been and offer advice on our future plans. We did eat once on our first night, both having fish and chips. We did find the batter to be very thick and quite greasy but everything else was fine. Perhaps just a bad choice, perhaps just a bad day for the chef. All of the other food we saw being brought out looked very nice. All in all a great little pub with good atmosphere and good choice of beers and other drinks with really great staff.

Interesting and cosy stop for the weary traveler....

We were staying close by in Lexington Avenue and came across this pub on our way back to the hotel one day - and called in for a beer (as you do!).

Its a lovely cosy, snug and interesting place, decor and resembles a train and its a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of a busy city. Felt like we were in a traditional British pub!
Service was good on this first visit and they were very attentive and friendly.

We called again later in the week and it was noticeably busier and the staff were not coping as well with the influx of customers.
We had a snack (all the meals and snacks I saw looked good) and we had to wait quite a while for it and also for our drinks - however, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us and didn't really put us off going back there again.
I loved the decor and the atmosphere and would recommend it - seemed to be a good mix of visitors and locals which is a good sign in my book.

Freezing
Sep 2017 • Couples
We had a quick drink here as it looked nice from the outside but it was absolutely freezing inside with the air con up way too high. We would have been warmer sitting in the outside area.
The bar staff were very unfriendly too and the bar man was on his phone the whole time we were there. We left after one drink.
