About
Established in 1940 and spanning three generations of family ownership, Kentshire is one of the foremost dealers of period jewelry, vintage costume jewelry, and fine antique English furniture. The uptown gallery at 700 Madison Avenue, between 62nd and 63rd streets, is spread over three floors of a beautiful townhouse and features both our jewelry and furniture collections. The midtown salon in Bergdorf Goodman, at 5th avenue and 58th street, features our antique, estate and vintage costume jewelry collection. Kentshire also exhibits at the following art fairs: Masterpiece London, the New York Winter Antiques Show, the New York International Art and Antique Dealers Show, and the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show.

Address
Neighborhood: Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.

I first discovered Kentshire Galleries in the late 1980's whilst shopping in Bergdorf Goodman in New York. At this time they had a small boutique within the store which featured a tempting selection of antique jewellery. On one occasion I happened to meet one of the owners who introduced me to the Greenwich village location. Here, on East 12th Street, in an impressive building, Kentshire has eight floors dedicated to a large collection of antique furniture, accessories for the home and of course, antique jewellery. I love browsing to discover what new pieces have joined the galleries; there is no pressure to buy, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. I am not their best customer, having only purchased a couple of treasured items of jewellery but their warm welcome always makes me want to return.
