I had heard good things about this place from online reviews, so my wife and I went here last week. The two acts we saw were very much like extended SNL skits, but the trouble was they just weren't funny. The performers were all young and energetic. I just wanted to laugh more. Maybe it was an off night, so... More

So reasonably priced and super fun if your like emerging comedy. This is not a standup club. It feels like Second City and SNL have a farm team here and they are funny. Don't come to listen for punchlines and one liners-this is the art of comedy. Well done Ms. Fey! Wish I lived in NYC just to be able... More

With some hesitation we entered the UCB theatre, located at a place where you would never expect a comedy theatre, but what a great experience, pure and intense; disarming!

My husband and I visited the venue to experience NYC improv. Tickets were free and we were not told of a drink minimum so overall pretty cheap visit. Mateo, our host, was very funny. He is Sicilian and hilarious. Lots of audience interaction. The performers were just ok but Mateo carried the show. Wouldn't probably go back unless I knew... More

We loved our show at the UCB Theatre. We saw Indie Cage Match at the East Village Location. It featured three independent teams that did 20-ish minute improv shows. The audience then got to vote. We thought it was HILARIOUS. Pretty cool to be at the improv club started by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. For those wondering, there were... More

It's hilarious; it's inexpensive; it's a crowd pleaser. My friends and I come here all the time to see the place where so many greats got their start. The improv is always funny, but don't go if you're easily offended by course language. The groups always seem to have great chemistry together and it keeps my friends and I coming... More

We were really excited to see some improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, particularly after reading Amy Poehler's autobiography book where she talks a lot about her early days there. I had also heard so much about the place, which sadly left us somewhat disappointed. We arrived to see what was on and booked tickets to see two sketch... More

Managed to see a few improv shows over my week of work -- these are some of the best I've seen anywhere in the world (and I've been doing improv for ~25 years) UCB does an amazing job of long form improv (all based on characters and story as opposed to the games you see on Who's Line Is It... Improv isn't for everyone. Some people just don't "get" improv. Too many people expect it to be standup or like that insipid "Who's Line" show. Guys, long form improvised comedy is where it's at: scenes made up based on...suggestions, monologues...whatever. With all of that out of the way, ASSSSCAT 3000 at UCB is the best long form show I've ever... More

The UCB has some very talented improvisers and the Grandma's Ashes show was very entertaining. It went a little off the rails when an unruly guest started yelling, derailing the improvisers and leading down a tangent that was hard to recover from. The second act was one full scene of improv and though this is a very impressive feat, I... More
