Every time I'm in NYC, I go to Otto's at least once, if not several times. I love it! Supercool bar with vintage tiki decor. Drinks are awesome!! Try a frozen pina colada. It's just good and not at all like sickeningly sweet versions I've had elsewhere. Then there is the music!!! A great mix of punk, rockabilly, vintage surf... More

I went to see one of the last Tiki Bars in NYC on a Saturday afternoon. After a long hot hike from the bus station (I skipped the subways) it was great to get a cold tropical cocktail in a tiki mug. The place was busy which surprised me as the neighborhood was quite. The bartender was great and helped... More

Strong cocktails in great glasses that you can keep for an extra $5, cool decor, great music and live bands on a Sunday. One of my favourite bars in New York.

They had an Elvis Birthday Bash with a lineup of 4 bands back to back. Sweet! We got there about 8 and hopped right to the bar. Fun tiki inspired strong drinks, almost to pretty to drink and decent tap list. Bartender was busy but super friendly, an easy place to make friendly connections. All kinds, young and old, we... Went to see my boyfriends band perform. Not a place I would have gone, but pleased I did. The drinks are strong and there is an entire Tiki bar culture I knew nothing of. Cash only but there us an ATM if you need it. Lots of personality in a small place.

This is really fun tiki bar to visit. They even sell their self-branded collector mugs. We shared a Volcano Blast drink, but it tasted a light on the booze. Maybe the sweetness masked it. Anyhow, the service and atmosphere is also good. So, while no home-runs, i have no complaints either. I would visit again.

Good dive with even better tiki drinks! The bartender was friendly and would give recommendations for which tiki drinks are the best

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
