We saw the Alvin Ailey performance (which I confess would be jaw-dropping in any venue) and were wowed by this beautifully restored venue - unusual Moorish decor, a grand old house in every sense, with even unusually comfortable seats in orchestra, and away from the tourist crush of the heart of the the theater district. A great venue for a... More

Great theater, all renovated has all kinds of performances. Saw Russian ballet dancers in Nov. '15 & hoping they return next year, Natalia Osipova & Sergei Polunin. Close to Central Park South. So, take a horse & buggy over to here & enjoy. Some shopping nearby & quaint restaurants.

Manhattan Theatre Club presents a play with a different take on the Vietnam War. There's never a dull moment among the five actors, three of whom play multiple roles. It's engaging, engrossing, entertaining from beginning to end. Mostly funny but not without a sad event in the beginning that informs the rest of the story. Off-Broadway at its best.

We were surprised to find this richly decorated moorish style building among the usual anonymous W 55th streets buildings. It is newly restored and the terra cotta tiles look colorful. The stylish interior is also worth a visit.

Visited this beautiful theater for the first time and was impressed with its beauty and the friendly staff. Not far from Carnegie Hall, there are plenty of restaurants and parking garages in the area. Decent leg room in the orchestra area. Since this is not in the crowded Times Square theater district, there is a lot less foot traffic to... More

This venue, home stage for Manhattan Theater Club, is an Art Deco gem opened during Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia's term of office. It hosts plays, concerts and all types of entertainment. Large, grand 'Moorish' interior main theater and intimate, modern, high tech small box theater. You choose...

Wow what a place. We were in the balcony and OMG if you have vertigo be careful. An almost vertical drop down to the stage. Saying that the acoustics were good but if you want a better experience bite the bullet and spring for some better seats.

I've been to NYC Center twice now, and have very much enjoyed my experience both times, so I thought I'd write and let ya'll know! On my most recent visit (2.19.16) we went to the box office to pick up our tickets purchased in advance, and despite being on the wrong side to pick up our tickets (totally our error),... More

Over the years, we have seen a number of theatrical productions at City Center ranging from the Encores music theater shows, to Cate Blanchett in Genet's The Maids, to children's performances . It is also a major dance venue! Ironically, it is just around the corner from Carnegie Hall!! I strongly encourage consideration of The Encores series where leading theater... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
