The space is designed with comfort in mind. All visitors can find things to do and never be just bored waiting for show to start or killing time in the intermission. We went again and this time was 42FT outstanding circus show, that they carefully crafted for the sensory vunrable kids and adults. The staff and the atmosphere engaged with the context right away and the show was amazing success. I highly recommend for all age entertainment lovers and is definitely our family favorite spot to visit.

The New Victory Theater is a true family theater that has all that magic that this kind of theater should have. The interior is a combination of a modern lobby where kids can participate in arts activities with the stuff or family before and after shows, and the elaborately decorated interior of the seating and stage that are rebuild to be much the way it looked at the beginning of the 20th century. The show that we saw is RE:PLAY. We were blown away with the imagination, emotions, and the magic of shape shifting that 4 actors presented us. And mind you- with no words or music. The show and the theater are a must!!

We saw a performance of Airplay here during the first week of April. This was our first trip to the theater and our five year old and seven year old had a great time. We arrived before the show and enjoyed some activities on the lower level. There are lockers available too. The theater itself is really intimate and we enjoyed great views from row M on the main floor of the theater. The ushers passed out booster cushions which helped improve the view for my younger daughter.
Airplay was a phenomenal show! My wife and I had just as much fun as the kids!

Jason Bishop is an accomplished magician and more importantly an entertainer. This show is suitable for anyone, but he directs it toward the children in the theater, much to their delight. If you are in NYC between now and the day before New Years Eve, and with your family, it's worth considering. The theater is attractive but small...perfect for this kind of show. Prices are reasonable by NYC standards - main floor seating was $36. They break up the show with a 15 minute intermission but you are still out in about 2 hours. Jason Bishop and his Assistant will sign autographs and pose for pictures after the show if you choose to stay a while longer. And why not, it's Christmas time in New York.

Very well organized, clean, excellent accoustic, everywhere you are seated you can see all, professional staff. They offer "boosters" to seat the children, if necessary.

I’ve been taking my kids to the New Vic for over 10 years; the only full-time performing arts theater for children in NYC. They offer a wide variety of shows for many different age levels and adults will enjoy them also. Now that my kids are teenagers I select shows for the older age groups and we have seen some excellent performances. One of my all time favorites was “Nevermore” about the life and work of Edgar Allen Poe, a seriously wonderful production by a group from Alberta. The New Vic is also affordable and one can often get tickets the day of the show and most of the seats are good.

You won't find the huge productions of the typical Broadway shows. What you will find is a kid friendly Broadway experience in a fabulous venue at prices starting at what it costs to see a movie. Shows run for 1-2 months so be sure to check the calendar. Their web site is very clear about the age range for each show and has never steered us wrong. I take my kids to about 4 shows a year, we have never been disappointed. Everything from the free lockers to the availability of sufficient bathrooms makes families feel at home.

One of the best shows I have ever seen. Definitely worth every penny and then some. It is the second time I see this show, I first saw it in Glasgow at the Fringe Festival, they finally came to New York, I wish they could be here longer. Maybe they will return next year. If I am able to go to this show again I certainly will. It is a combination of Colombian choco hip hop and the circus. Tons of fun.

New Vic's shows are consistently of the highest quality. Balconcy tickets can be had for about the cost of a movie ticket (really!) and orchestra seats are rarely more than $35 or $40.
If you are in town with kids (or even if you're not), this is a great place to take them to see live theater. Check the age recommendations on their web site as some shows are for the very young, some are for young adults and some are great for everyone.
My wife and son and I have been going since our son was 3 or 4. He is now 11 and we all look forward to the shows. Some are full of action and others are thoughtful. One of the best shows we saw was a walking performance of Hansel and Gretel where an audience of 100 walked through various parts of the theater (it began in the green room and ended up on the stage) which were set as H&G's home, the forest and, ultimately, the witch's house.
Check it out and enjoy live theater with your kids.
