Great Swing Music and a place to dance.

It's all about the music, the great swing bands, and the space to dance. Seven nights a week you can do this. There is no other venue in NYC where this happens. While all... read more

It's all about the music, the great swing bands, and the space to dance. Seven nights a week you can do this. There is no other venue in NYC where this happens. While all nights are great, weekends cater more to tourists and though coming in from the burbs to celebrate one thing or another. There's a very small cover... More

I just visited this place last Saturday, entrance fee $ 20 pp ( this is just fine if you stay for the performance). Dining experience rather mediocre, with the Service that makes you feel that something very weird is going on from the beginning - cheating on TOURIST is not a sin in Swing 46 and probably many other places.... I think it's probably more fun if you're planning a night of dancing. But if what you're looking to do is listen to jazz music and watch people dance -- not so much. It's a $15/person cover to get a table in the dance hall. Free if you just want to sit at the bar, but from there you can't... More

I cannot recommend this place enough! It is the biggest hidden gem in new york city and every time I visit I leave having had the best nights ever. The band is incredible, if you visit on a night where they have the big band, then there are 16 musicians in the band as well as the lead singer. The... More

We stopped for drinks on our way to dinner at another spot. It was early, like 6 pm. We met Dave, one of the friendliest bartenders in NY City. My wife and I chatted with him and learned he was also an actor. I know actors. They can be aloof and distant. Not Dave. He is interested in you and... More

We saw this place when we were having lunch across the street and after seeing three Broadway shows just wanted some live music. They have dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. but if you want to stay for the live big band jazz music that starts at 8:30 p.m. there is a $15.00 cover charge. We enjoyed the food, the wine... More

Loved this Jazz Club, and especially the live Harlem Renaissance Orchestra who played lots of Count Basie numbers and were excellent. There was lots of dancing, including a dance lesson in the interval. I was so upset that I couldn't dance due to a back/hip problem, but it was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves, and especially the locals. It... More

First the good news. This is an authentic jazz club with a nostalgic ambience of the Cotton Club. At $15 entry fee with great live music and dancing it's great value and a special night out. However don't bother eating there. The food is at best average and very over-priced. One meal had to be sent back twice. The drinks... More

One of the worst meals that we have had in NYC. From the salad, bread, main and desert it was bad. Apparently they cater to tourist and don't care if they never come back.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
