We went to the early show on Wednesday night to see the Dave Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band. We arrived about 5:15 for the 5:30 show and ordered drinks and dinner. My husband ordered NY Strip Steak and I ordered Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna with rice noodles with vegetables and a light balsamic sauce. The tuna was great! The steak... More

We went on a Sunday night to see an afro-cuban jazz band. It was the perfect way to end our short weekend trip to NYC. I highly recommend this place to whoever loves a good live jazz show.

What a way to begin the weekend! Fantastic jazz by Rob Middleton and the Birdland Big Band. We loved every song played - and gosh Rob is so smooth on the sax you think it will melt! The food was yummy and interesting - service was fantastic. We cannot wait to go back. Make your reservations early because this Friday... More

The seating is good, great visibility, the stage is big enough without being too large. We saw Stacey Kent - great artist. Well worth a visit

I started with a mojito which was elegantly formulated Baby ribs: the ribs are good nicely spiced and the cabbage and brussel sprouts are adequate if not great Wonderful show

This place is amazing; talk about stepping back in time, from the classic maitre d' to the excellent meatloaf dinner (how 60's is that?!). Actually the food was much better than expected, and I loved the 60's era recipes which went well with the decor and general vibe of this very cool place. Oh, and don't forget the music, incredible... More

A nice upscale club with great artists which has regular discounts available so it is more affordable the the Blue Note. Drop in and listening to great music and you never know who may drop by (How about Wynton Marsalis playing six feet away).

Bought tickets on line from UK for the 5.15 set on a Friday evening for the Birdland Big Band and they were fantastic. Superb musicians, well led, playing some well known and less well known tunes, great acoustics - I could not fault the show. There is a 10$ Cover charge per person but we covered that with 3 drinks... More

One of the best jazz clubs I saw. As for the atmosphere - in line with the Village Vanguard and Jazz Standard - it constitutes top three jazz clubs in New York for me - way ahead of e.g. Blue Note. Although they were quite a few people attending the show, thanks to the table setting in the club you... More

I had dinner last night at Bill Charlap performance at Birdland. While the music was fabulous, the food was tasteless and a rip off. They need to stop charging for food like this.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
