Visited for the 9pm set on Superbowl Sunday so as venue was not full the owner invited us all to stay on for the 11pm set free of charge Music was great - Arturo O'Farrill - as were the cocktails Its a good venue albeit slightly too touristy for my taste. However suited our purposes as I took a girlfriend... More

I'm not a Jazz fan at all, went there for my friend who is. But this was the best venue I saw for this kind of entertainment: spacious, large room, giving the best views of the band. Good and attentive service.

Started our Saturday evening around 5:30pm to be seated for the 6:00pm show with Jay Leonhart. Service was accommodating and friendly. We also had tickets for the later show, with Bossa Nova legend Marcos Valle. Both shows were superb. Food and drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was exactly what a Jazz Club should be; dimly lit, attention focused... More

Just go there. If you love a good time, semi / full classy, will still let you in if you pay and promise your phone is completely off, as this is a requirement. They won't let you in or stumble up until the song is done and then you might be able to be quickly seated if they have. Food... More

This jazz-oriented nightclub in the heart of midtown (surrounded by theater district staples like "The Phantom of the Opera") packs talent! I went on a weeknight that featured more of a cabaret theme, with a young Broadway actor packing in the crowds. The club is closer in kin to a joint like Blue Smoke (on the East side of Manhattan)... I went to Birdland primarily to hear good jazz, and I did! The food and service were excellent also... an intimate atmosphere enhanced the evening.

Birdland gets amazing performers, across a wide range of music genres. All the performers put on great shows and truly appreciate the contribution that Birdland has made to keeping live jazz and live cabaret music vital in NYC. In one week I saw Grammy Country artists, renowned jazz guitarist and legendary cabaret singer. On Monday, I saw country music star... More

We saw Dave Holland perform....great seats...right in front of the stage. The last time I saw Dave Holland was in 1983 Edinburgh when I was a student...so I was looking forward to this...really just the best..I was moments away from jumping out of my seat and screaming yyyyaahhooooo...I'm in Birdland New York City...best seat in the house in my opinion.... This iconic venue was well laid out, had good table service and food. The decor was great - pics of jazz musos on the walls, tiered seating - but it was too dark to actually get a good look at the photos, see your meal & even see the check/bill. The music was not to our taste even though we... More

Jazz in New York City is special and we look forward to it when visiting. This was a first-time experience for us at Birdland and listening to a 10-piece group recount moment in the music's history was a real treat. Birdland is definitely worth planning a repeat appearance. Great atmosphere in one of the city's historic venues, great service and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
