About Museum Hack
New York: We lead unconventional tours of the world’s best museums. Ours are not your grandma’s museum tours - though, your grandma would probably have a lot of fun! We began offering these unique experiences at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and today host hundreds of tours at museums in cities across the U.S. Our signature un-highlights tour puts an alternative spin on the museum, featuring the other sides to the highlights we love, as well as some of the strangest, wildest, and sexiest stories hidden throughout the museum. Other specialty tours, like our Badass Bitches tours or Drag Tours help you see the museum in a whole new way. In addition to our group tours, we do private tours for groups (no strangers allowed!), families, corporate teams, and more. Spots are limited and tours fill up fast, so we recommend booking your tour in advance.

We did our first Museum Hack tour today at the Met. Jim and Randy were awesome. The tour allowed us to see and learn things we likely would not have if we toured the museum on our own. It would have been too overwhelming for our daughters, 16 and 18, who aren’t huge fans of art museums. Jim and Randy were a great pair. They knew their art, had fun stories for many things we saw, and made the tour interactive. We highly recommend this tour! Request Jim and Randy!!!

Came to NYC for a girls weekend, and we needed some entertainment for Saturday morning. This tour did not disappoint! Our tour guide, Kristina, was hilarious and engaging and she did a fabulous job of keeping us amused and engaged. We learned some really weird facts about various artifacts and exhibits! I would absolutely take another Museum Hack tour in the future - highly recommend!

They start with the premise that you can't see everything unless you plan to spend multiple days and do a ton of research. Since most people can't do that, a hack tour is a great option. You get a witty, informed and energetic host - in our case it was Rachel - who cuts a swath through continents and millennia, pausing here and there for a story or a game or a joke. Two hours goes by in a flash.

I heard about Museum Hack on the podcast Stuff You Missed in History Class (maybe a year ago). I finally made it to the BABs tour yesterday, and it did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Sara was phenomenal -- enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. I've been to the Met many times in the past, but this tour gave me a whole new perspective on the museum, including on pieces I'd seen in the past. We also stopped at lots of pieces that I'd never noticed. I enjoyed hearing those stories most because they were pieces I wouldn't have found meaningful based on the information on the plaques. The Met can be overwhelming, so it was great to have a guide to provide some context. My husband and his parents had never been to the Met before, and this was a great introduction for them. We would have liked to have had more time to explore on our own as we were going through the museum. We could have gone back through the museum after the tour, but we were tired. I'm going to have to bring my husband (who originally had no interest in visiting the Met) back to the Met to see everything else he wants to see. So, yeah, the tour did its job. I could have done without the photo challenges. I wish I had brought a water bottle. It's warm in the Met. Bottom line, though. I would recommend this tour to anyone. If you don't think museums are your thing, if you don't think a feminist museum tour is for you, even better.

3 High School friends (now in their 30s) decided to take a trip to the museum to celebrate a birthday and we got one of the most amazing and funny experiences. Anna was an awesome tour guide - funny and with all the facts. I would do it all over again!
