About Boroughs Of The Dead
Boroughs of the Dead is a New York City walking tour company with a macabre bent. Our walks are based on the city’s ghastly histories and ghostly legends, which are surprisingly abundant in a metropolis often considered too busy, too modern, for ghosts. But look around, and listen. They’re still here.

Here in the oldest part of New York City, the spirits of our past are palpable as we stand in its crooked, shadowy streets. In Lower Manhattan there is a wealth of histories ghastly, grim, and stranger-than-fiction.

The tales told on this tour range from the to the heart-wrenching and horrific to the ghoulishly funny to the flat-out frightening. Our guides lead you through 400 years of legends and history––across burial grounds, sites of rebellion and revolution––that haunt us still today.

Visit burial sites and sacred spaces, haunted taverns, parks and potter’s fields. Meet witches and wretches, pirates and prisoners, and be prepared to shift your perspective of this urban pocket of the material world.

Part historical tour, part ghost tour, this spirited stroll is perfect for history lovers with a curiosity for the macabre, and for fans of all things paranormal, creepy, and strange.

This macabre walking tour begins near Washington Square and wends its way westward through the labyrinthine streets of the West Village.

Forgotten histories and urban lore abound on this haunting, mysterious, and wonderfully weird stroll through one of the most charmingly strange neighborhoods in the city. Discover the mystical symbolism hidden in everyday architecture and the subterranean histories lurking below New York City. Hear tales of phantoms, occultists, restless spirits, body snatchers, and spectral founding fathers including Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr! Find out how horror writers like Poe and Lovecraft were inspired by Greenwich Village, and more!

For anyone interested in ghosts and horror, mysticism and the occult, and the weird side of NYC history, this tour is a must.

Take a stroll among the graceful old homes of one of Brooklyn’s oldest neighborhoods… but don’t let their sedate charms fool you. Nestled within these dwellings are a wealth of gory, ghastly, haunted, and gruesome tales. See horror master H.P. Lovecraft’s former home, visit the site of a “ghost-haunted” fort, discover the “Gate to Hell” and more!

What a fun, informative, and spooky tour! Our tour guide Adrian was awesome - so energetic, playful, and descriptive. She even (hilariously) acted out some of the scenes giving a splash of theater to an extremely well-researched tour. Plus, even as a lifelong New Yorker,...More

The calendar on the website should be accurate. I would email them if there is a tour posted to check availability as they can fill up quickly.
