About
Experience a 2, 3, or 4 hour sail along New York City's skyline aboard a lovingly restored classic sailboat! Narwhal Yacht Charters offers intimate private charters for up to 6 people on a Tayana 37, a seaworthy vessel designed to cross oceans. This year (2024) marks Captain Eric's 13th professional sailing season on New York Harbor, where he has safely logged over 55,400 incident free nautical miles since pursuing his dream to take people sailing for a living a decade ago! Each sail is customizable but a typical 4 hour sail includes sailing down the Hudson River from Chelsea Piers (passing Lower Manhattan) to get as close to the Statue of Liberty as possible. From there, we sail around Governors Island and underneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges on the East River before returning. Waters, sodas, and ice are included. Bring your own food and alcohol to personalize the experience. Convenient located at Chelsea Piers (Pier 59) in Manhattan. Visit my website to book your sail!

Our evening sail with Captain Eric was an exceptional experience that exceeded all expectations. As a Father's Day gift for my husband, it couldn't have been more perfect.
Captain Eric's beautiful boat, expert seamanship, and warm hospitality created an ideal setting for our family adventure[1]. His ability to engage with all of us, especially my husband, made the experience truly special.
What stood out was the genuine connection between Captain Eric and my husband. Their shared passion for sailing sparked animated conversations about boats and techniques. Watching my husband's eyes light up as he discussed his love for sailing with such a knowledgeable captain was a gift in itself.
Our children were equally captivated by the experience. Captain Eric's patience and enthusiasm in sharing his knowledge turned our sail into an educational adventure for the whole family.
The evening was picture-perfect - ideal weather, breathtaking views, and fantastic company. Captain Eric's attention to detail and commitment to our comfort and enjoyment were remarkable.
This Father's Day outing wasn't just a sail; it was a cherished family memory we'll treasure for years. We're already looking forward to our next adventure aboard Captain Eric's beautiful vessel.
For families seeking a unique and memorable experience, we wholeheartedly recommend sailing with Captain Eric. It's an unparalleled combination of skill, hospitality, and pure sailing joy that shouldn't be missed!

Booked last minute on an overcast day which turned out to be really nice with the sun not beating down and we could enjoy the breeze & sightseeing. Captain Eric really showed his passion for sailing and was happy to give us all the tips & history along the way of the Jersey & NY coast & to the statue. Seeing the bridges from below was pretty amazing. Really cool experience, relaxing and convenient! Great price as well!

Everything I expected from the reviews…and more.
Eric was brilliant from the planning of the sail to the day. Planning was required as I chartered to propose to my girlfriend, Eric helped with the when and where and was there to capture the moment with some great pictures.
We did the three hour trip which took us all the way to Manhattan Bridge, and Eric was great at sharing the context before giving us all the time we needed to enjoy our special moment and the views.
Our sail was exceptional and I can highly recommend Eric, he will do all he can to ensure you and the rest of your group have a great time.

My friend was visiting me from Scotland and we went on an amazing sailing cruise on the Hudson. We are both in our sixties and a little apprehensive at first. We needn’t have worried as Eric put us at ease immediately. He was so informative on the history of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and more. We would totally recommend sailing with Eric.. A great way to see Manhattan while you sip wine on a beautiful evening We could not ask for more. Thanks Captain Eric!!

We had a wonderful relaxing sail. Eric asked if we wanted to go under the Brooklyn Bridge and by the Statue of Liberty, which would require use of the motor for a while, or do something else. We opted to skip the Brooklyn Bridge since we had walked over it a while ago and there is a park underneth it. So we were under sail for almost the entire time. It's a sailbat, so we wanted to sail, not motor around. We tacked up to the Statue of Liberty which gave us a fantastic view of it. Then we sailed over to Goveners Island and went a ways up it before sailing back to the pier. Eric is not only a very skilled captain, he was very informative and answered all our questions about things along the way and other boats in the area. Overall a wonderful and memorable excursion that we highly recommend.

We have now sailed with Captain Eric and Narwhal Yacht charters 5 times over the past 3 years. It continues to be one of our most exciting summer activities. Either with our 4 little kids or just a day out for the adults, it's perfection every single time. It's amazing to take in the hustle and bustle of the city from the outside in such a calm and relaxing setting. On our latest trip, we sailed 3 hours and went under the Brooklyn bridge, over to the statue of Liberty and with the wind working with us, were able to go up to Hudson yards. When our charter is over, we can all agree that it's never long enough. Already looking forward to our next trip!

My cousins and I loved our afternoon sail with Captain Eric - the boat is beautiful and the views can't be beat. It truly is a memorable experience that we can't recommend more. We have done sails with larger groups in NYC and to have a private sail with Eric was EXTRA special and worth the price. Book it, you will not regret it!

Highly recommend. My wife and I have spent a lot of time in NYC and this the coolest activity we have ever booked. Eric is extremely knowledgeable re NYC history, but more importantly, is a cool/chill guy and an outstanding host. He lets you plan your own trip- whether that is a wedding proposal, simply having champagne at sunset, enjoying dinner or just listening to tunes and enjoying the view. We did the sunset cruise and it was magical!

For probably 10 years (or close to it) my wife and I have been chartering sails with captain Eric. We have had an amazing experience every charter. We have taken family, our son, and friends through out the years and everyone has loved the experience. Captain Eric is great, super kind, knowledgeable and overall great person. His boat is an amazing vessel and we always feel safe on board. We will continue to charter tours every year!

My family and I have been sailing with Captain Eric for over 10 years every season, at least once or twice a year, and it NEVER gets old. Being on the Hudson on such a gorgeous sailboat is always the highlight of our summer and our elementary age kids absolutely love it as well. We feel very safe on the boat, the kids always wear life jackets, and we have a lot of fun enjoying the sights, especially with the food and drinks we bring aboard. You can feel totally relaxed for a few hours because Eric takes care of everything, which is like gold for busy parents! I highly recommend sailing with Narwhal to both my local and visiting friends!
