About
Experience a 2, 3, or 4 hour sail along New York City's skyline aboard a lovingly restored classic sailboat! Narwhal Yacht Charters offers intimate private charters for up to 6 people on a Tayana 37, a seaworthy vessel designed to cross oceans. This year (2023) marks Captain Eric's 12th professional sailing season on New York Harbor, where he has safely logged over 50,500 incident free nautical miles since pursuing his dream to take people sailing for a living a decade ago! Each sail is customizable but a typical 4 hour sail includes sailing down the Hudson River from Chelsea Piers (passing Lower Manhattan) to get as close to the Statue of Liberty as possible. From there, we sail around Governors Island and underneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges on the East River before returning. Waters, sodas, and ice are included. Bring your own food and alcohol to personalize the experience. Convenient located at Chelsea Piers (Pier 59) in Manhattan. Visit my website to book your sail!

We bought this tour for a father's day gift and took our family for a 6 people private sunset sailing experience around NYC. It was the closest most of us have been to the Statue of Liberty and it was just so beautiful, exciting, and very relaxing.

Eric was an amazing host and very knowledgeable in much of the history behind the city's structures, etc. He was very welcoming, letting us hang around the whole boat and take on our own food and beverages, which was a nice plus!

We were briefly worried about the weather but Eric assured us throughout the whole day before the trip that the radar and weather is looking good and it turned out to be just as expected, just a little bit of clouds, not taking away from the beauty of the skyline or experience.

Thank you again, Eric!

Captain Eric is the best! He knows how to make a perfect experience on the water, customized to what your group wants and needs. For us, he timed a perfect sunset at the Statue of Liberty and view of the city all lit up and entertained with amazing facts and insights throughout the ride. As a native NY'er, I learned more about NYC through Eric than I ever did on any other tour. He's the best for a reason-- you'll feel safe, secure and have an amazing time!

We sailed with Eric on his gorgeous boat, the Genesis, earlier this month and had the BEST time. Not only is he a fantastic and accommodating host, he is very knowledgeable about NYC's history and gladly shared his/the Genesis' story when we asked. You can clearly tell that Eric loves what he does and is very passionate about the Genesis.

We did a sail on a Saturday afternoon and brought sushi and rosé aboard for lunch. Definitely recommend bringing some food/drinks to enjoy and music to connect to his wireless bluetooth system. He provides water, sodas, ice, cups, and has a refrigerator as well.

Can't recommend Eric/Narwhal Yacht Charters enough!! We loved sailing on the Genesis so much that we just booked a second sail for next month!

I can’t think of a single thing that could have made our sail with Captain Eric better. As a native New Yorker, I’ve seen this city from every angle, and somehow, after more than 35 years here, our private charter delivered new views and memories with the NYC skyline, Brooklyn Bridge, and Statue of Liberty serving as the perfect back drop. Leading up to our sail, Eric was appropriately communicative, and during our sail, he made our group feel entirely safe and comfortable. Could not recommend him any more!

This was my first time sailing with Captain Eric and it won’t be the last! If I could give more than 5 stars for my experience I would. Eric was an excellent host to my party of 3 and I (a Girls trip). Before the sail, he was very responsive and kept me abreast about the weather as early as he could, and informed me of what my options were up onto a few hours before the sail. Luckily it lightly rained for about 15 minutes and Eric did a great job dodging it, which enabled us to sail the full 4 hours we wanted. My party and I are from nyc but felt like we were on a getaway vacation due to Eric’s hospitality and sailing skillfulness. I 100% recommend sailing with Eric!

This trip was by far the highlight of our trip to New York City. It was a beautiful night to sail and Eric was so welcoming and made us feel like family. We booked a 4 hour sunset cruise and was able to see a beautiful sunset and the lights of the city at night are just amazing. Eric is very knowledgable and can tell you about anything you want to know about NYC and surroundings. I would highly recommend this sail and excellent captain!!

As someone born and raised in NYC, I'm completely amazed to have had such a unique, jaw-droppingly beautiful experience as this sunset sail around my city. With 6 friends and family, we ate, drank, listened to music and took stunning photos. We didn't want the 3 hours to end. Cpt. Eric made us all feel welcome and completely safe on his gorgeous boat. One of THE BEST experiences I've ever had in NYC!
Thank you Cpt. Eric!!

Captain Eric not only responded to my sail inquiry as prompt as ever; upon arrival to his vessel his immediate attention to our specific group was so impressive and appreciated. Following a brief and informative personal and professional introduction, we were into our 3 hour journey. His additional bits of information regarding NYC coastline were the perfect addition to our sail. The Genesis is not only a beautiful sailboat...the attention to her detail and the class behind its history is what made me fall in love even more so with this experience. I had a total of 6 people as a part of my 40th birthday and it could not have been a more magical trip. We were accommodated by Captain Eric with all the details from a wireless speaker for playing our own music to recommending us the perfect spot to take group photos. The attention to details made our experience perfect. We look back on our photos from our sail every day still in awe of how amazing it was. Can't wait to book another sail! An absolute treasure in NYC...SO genuinely happy that I booked with him.

Sailing with Capt Eric and Narwhal Yacht Charters was a delight! It’s an amazing way to see the city and a unique activity. The sail was completely personal and Eric is a fantastic host. The city was very hot the day we went out but the breeze once we got out on the water was immediately noticeable! To be able to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours was so amazing. I did a fair amount of research before picking Narwhal Yacht Charters and I’m confident I found the best one on the Hudson! The boat was spotless, well-appointed and had an awesome vintage feel. I really can’t recommend this enough whether you are visiting NYC as a tourist or you a long time New Yorker like me. I’ll be going again this summer!

Years ago, I chartered a sail with Narwhal Yacht Charters for my husband's birthday. We were all adults and had an incredible experience.

Now, as time has passed, my husband and I are parents to a young girl who loves playing pirates. So, we thought of Captain Eric again for a completely different type of sail. We invited a set of grandparents to join us. My daughter wore her favorite pirate captain dress, carried her foam sword, and brought her pirate map. The adults wore pirate t-shirts. Captain Eric, with his great beard, fit right into our pirate silliness and he even added a few pirate jokes to make us laugh.

Our daughter loved the sail. She was thrilled to see the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and other landmarks. Captain Eric told her many stories about the history of the Hudson River. She couldn't stop talking about him for over a week!

Since our daughter is under five, she is not vaccinated. Captain Eric wore a mask the entire time. So, we all felt comfortable on our sail. Before the sail ended, we knew that we would return. We highly recommend Narwhal Yacht Charters for a champagne birthday sail or a pirate adventure!
