I emailed Imani Alexander about a month and a half before my upcoming trip to New York to schedule an Educational Tour of The Garment District for me and my daughter. She responded right away and said she wasn't certain of her holiday schedule, but would get back to me. Without fail, she followed up about a month later and scheduled the tour for us.

Before the tour, Imani sent us a questionnaire to fill out to find out what our interests were and what we wanted to learn. She was so accessible and seemed really interested in us.

The day before the tour, Imani got sick, and what could have been a huge disappointment turned out to be okay because of Imani's professionalism and contacts. She texted me to let me know she was sick and gave me two options: to cancel for a full refund and reschedule for a later date at no charge OR she would e-mail the itinerary and have us go on the tour on our own AND refund all but $50 of our money. We opted for the latter and within 30 minutes, she e-mailed me a full itinerary and scheduled an appointment for us at a Pattern Maker (William).

We started our tour at Mood and shopped and had our own little "Project Runway" experience. From there, we walked over to the Pattern Maker. He greeted us and immediately treated us like family. He showed us around his studio and explained to us how he designs his own line. Then the fun really began and he took us on a tour of the rest of the building. We saw factory after factory and watched clothes being made. He explained to us every process. The highlight for me, like many who have reviewed this tour, was the button factory. We watched as this man dyed buttons by hand trying to match a certain Pantone color. What we watched this man do, dying buttons and fabric, is truly a lost art and one that I am so glad that my daughter had the opportunity to see. For my daughter, I am not sure she understood what she was seeing and she did end up getting a little bit bored, but for me, this was an experience not to be missed.

When the tour was over, William gave me his card and sent us on our way with a new appreciation for the clothing business and truly an appreciation for buying "Made in the USA'.

Although we did not get the opportunity to meet Imani herself, she truly gave us what I am sure will be the highlight of our New York holiday trip. After posting some of the pictures on Facebook, my friends can't wait to come to NYC and do this tour. Thanks, Imani! Feel better soon :)

Two months ago, in preparation for a trip my sister and I were making to NYC, I booked a garment district tour with Imani. She went out of her way to ask questions to make sure the tour was tailored to our interests. Even so, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We were both blown away by the experience! To say Imani is knowledgeable, professional, connected in the fashion industry and fun is not doing her justice. She was simply amazing! My sister owns an online boutique - dottie-k.com - and loves fashion. Imani made her aware of wholesale stores in the area and gave us the opportunity to shop at a sample sale and buy from showrooms. I would go back to NYC just to do another garment district tour with her.

Imani in action!!! I was fortunate enough to get a tour from Imani two years ago and she was completely booked when I returned..... but, while having lunch I got to see her “in action” while shepherding a group of women through the garment district.....EVERY ONE OF THEM had a smile on their face!!!! Wonderful experience!!!!

Imani is, of course, the one with the beautiful iconic straw hat....🤗

This tour is absolutely amazing! Perfect if you want to get in contact with companies in the fashion industry at the Garment District, New York. Imani is very keen to introduce the customer to the right contacts and therefore adapting the tour for each customer. We are very satisfied with this tour, we have learned a lot and got good contacts, and will continue to turn to Imani and Urban Oasis when required. We recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in fashion, whether you work in the industry and need contacts in NYC, if you study and want to learn how it works, or if you're just interested in fashion and want a shopping tour. It's a great experience!
Thank you Imani! :)

Imani was absolutely amazing. I am starting a new line and had no idea where how to approach production. Imani arranged one on one meetings with vendors to help me navigate my way around the process. She was super knowledgeable and really helpful. Thank you Imani!

The tour was phenomenal, there was a lot to learn and a lot to explore, and I meet a sassy design that has a lot of pizzazz, we can related because are style are similar, she has my weakness, I have her strange, we exchange information to get more opportunities and with all the question I had asked Ms. Imani just made it spectacle! It was a lot of hidden secret that we didn't know about that made it spectacular. So made inspiration from so many place, she also let you put on the hat of a thinking of a pattern making, a trade show , buys, and the style! You really want to think about the question before you answer! but over all it was a wonderful experience, remember this a learn experiences, so you got to stay focus!

The various tour options are perfect for those that are interested in getting into the fashion industry, for those that are interested in learning more about the resources available in New York, and for shopping! The tour provides a comprehensive overview of the design process, and is sprinkled with valuable pieces of information and vendors along the way.

Because I love everything fashion. A very dear friend of mine had arrange a tour with Amani, to give me some insight on on the fashion industry. the tour was great not only did I get to visit some cool places our tour guide Amani was able to convey the whole process on how hard the designers work. she made the tour fun and a very enjoyable. I would recommend this tour for any new budding designer that wants to know the bad and good of the fashion world. I mentioned in the beginning of this review that I loved fashion... I also have a deep appreciation and respect.

I scheduled this consultation with the idea of learning at a high level the major steps in the manufacturing process and understanding the feasibility of my project from a cost perspective. Imani was very professional and dedicated as well as very patience in answering all my questions and concerns. She was able to capture my idea and my needs and translate it into an itinerary of visits and contacts with the right people. I appreciate very much her help and advise.
