We have had the good fortune to be able to visit some of the best cities in the world and experience the best bars/hotels those cities have to offer. For years we would always go to the bar at the FOur Seasons NY because it was always a wonderful experience. However, after talking up the experience to our friends who were with us, we went to the bar this week and could not believe what it has become. First, the hotel moved the bar into a small, awkward, and crowded corner off the lobby. The tables are smaller and way too close together. Therefore it is cramped and loud. The decor is awful and feels more like a 1990s era Marriott lobby than a four seasons bar. The service was simply bad. It was pretentious, slow, and rude. This in and of itself is so unlike the four seasons brand that it is shocking. To top it off, when the bill came of the four martinis that we had, each was priced higher than the menu stated it would be. ($26ea. Instead of $23ea.). And, oddly we were charged for extra pita chips which was nothing short of bizarre. When I became tired of the rudeness of our waiter and also of him ignoring us, I walked our check with a credit card to the bar and kindly asked the bartender if she would be so kind as to run through the credit card. After a long audible sigh and glare, she stomped over to our waiter and gave it to him and made sure to give me a nasty glare to make her displeasure completely clear. That will be our last visit to what had become our go-to upscale bar in the city. Way too many great places to choose from to overpay to be treated rudely and sit in a subpar environment.

Neighborhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Popped in as had lovely Christmas tree in the lobby. Fairly welcoming and bar staff good.

Drinks ridiculously expensive even for NYC ($$40 for two).

Looking for a place opened Thanksgiving night to have a drink with some friends, we walked into the Four Seasons Hotel. Very elegant hotel with very friendly people. Went to the bar and had two rounds of drinks. Of course prices were very high but the ambiance was great, quiet and elegant, good to talk to friends and enjoy your drink. A Bombay sapphire gin on the rocks for $22 is steep but in NYC, it's ok. In midtown New York, this is a great place to visit and relax.

A good environment if you have great hearing. Loved the cocktails but it was too
noisy (may have been a large group). We
prefer bars where one can have a conversation.

Discerning customers have a right to expect better than poor service when top prices are being charged. The four seasons bar simply did not deliver on this visit. Warm Sauvignon blanc, warm tonic with the Hendricks, a dirty Martini so poor it was rejected. An overcharge on the bill left an innocent customer embarrassed, after it was badly handled by Management.

A waitress in a white jacket unable to smile whilst charging 18% for service was just surly.

Our table for 6 set up by the Ast. bar manager only had 5 chairs. Attention to detail was shocking for a supposedly top of the range venue.
Simply not good enough Four Seasons.

I have been to this lounge many times over the years and must say that these guys need training on Bartending (Except Henry), and basic etiquette on speech and serving - they are not at the Four Seasons standards. The other nite I was stick between a hooker at the bar and 2 gals visting NYC from eastern europe and knew everyting about manhattan, beverly hiils, and malibu - OK. To add insult to injury I had a barteneder who mixed a lousy martini and I actaullay had an arguement with him - bad attitude. Never Again - bad News all around.

The building and bar exude history. The setting is perfect. But the cocktail bar has very few cosy seats, mainly tables and a lot of them. Our cocktails were OK, but at $24 plus tip a cocktail you are paying premium prices for average drinks in a rather empty (Thur evening 8pm) space. A good designer and 20% lower prices would fill this place. I was disappointed that the block of ice in my cocktail took up most of the volume of the drink. It was bigger than a golf ball

Go a few blocks to the plaza and get same architecture but better prices and a great setting, plus cheaper bar snacks.

I am not cheap, but don't love knowing that I am paying too much

This is one of my fave bars. Rarely crowded, good-looking people and awesome bartenders willing to make you sample a few of their great drinks. Not cheap but well-worth a visit

This bar/lounge is great for a drink if your not staying at the Four Seasons!

The drinks are delicious, large and fairly priced.
And the bar has such a great atmosphere.

The waitress was fantastic, so friendly and had so many stories about working at the Four Seasons that were so entertaining.

The drinks are great and come with a platter of nuts and olives which is a nice touch.

We would go back again without a doubt!
